We are looking for an Occupational & Industrial Safety Specialist to complete our consultants Workforce Management Service to support the Operational Launch System Safety Office of the European Space Agency (ESA) at their location in Frascati, Italy .

The purpose of the Safety Operational Office for Flight Programmes is to support Launcher and launch Systems development and interfacing with other Space Transportation (STS) Departments and ESA Directorates on demand .

As an Occupational & Industrial Safety Specialist, you will support ESA's occupational and industrial safety activities across multiple programmes, ensuring all on site operations, facilities, and industrial processes meet regulatory and organizational safety expectations.

The selected candidate may additionally be appointed to the role of Service Manager, subject to relevant experience and operational needs.

Please note, the successful candidate will be employed by ATG Europe (or one of its subsidiaries). Furthermore, upon selection, they will be subject to a general security screening performed by an external provider (further information will be provided at the interview stage).

The successful candidate will be tasked with, but not limited to:

Tasks and Responsibilities

Facility & Equipment Safety Assessments

• Evaluate facilities and equipment against applicable labour code, environmental code, ATEX, EMC, and industrial safety standards.
• Provide gap analyses and recommendations for upgrades or corrective actions to ensure regulatory compliance.

Occupational Safety Reviews

• Review programme documents, operational procedures, and risk assessments to ensure alignment with occupational safety best practices.
• Assess safety analyses and advise project teams on improvements for worker protection and incident prevention.

Regulatory Monitoring & Compliance

• Track the evolution of relevant safety regulations and standards, advising ESA teams on required adjustments.
• Support compliance activities related to ICPE, pyrotechnic regulations, and environmental requirements.

OnSite Supervision & Prevention Plans

• Support the elaboration of prevention plans and supervise execution of safety practices during onsite activities, including contractor coordination.
• Identify deviations, propose corrective measures, and ensure timely implementation.

CrossProgramme Support

• Contribute to risk analyses, emergency preparedness, equipment handling, and safety audits across ESA facilities.

• Master Degree in Aerospace Engineering, Safety Engineering, or equivalent;
• Minimum 4 years of relevant working experience in the domain of the position;
• Expertise in industrial safety, occupational safety, or risk management;
• Strong knowledge of European safety codes and regulatory requirements;
• Ability to coordinate on site safety and work with contractors;
• Experience in service coordination or the potential to assume Service Manager duties will be considered an asset;
• Candidates must be eligible to live and work in the EU;
• Due to the nature of the role and the required security protocols, only applicants who are nationals of EU or ESA Member States can be considered.
• Fluency in English, both written and spoken.
• Fluency in French, both written and spoken, is an asset.
