Inside the Launch Control Bench area in Rome, we are looking for a
PLC & Software Development Engineer (Beckhoff / National Instruments / Siemens/Java)
.

ACTIVITIES:

The selected candidate will be responsible for the following activities:

• Design, develop, and maintain PLC applications mainly on Beckhoff TwinCAT and NI platforms, with exposure to Siemens (TIA Portal).
• Implement, integrate, and test automation and test-bench solutions, including HMI/SCADA and field I/O.
• Develop high-level software—primarily in Java—to interface with PLC/test systems (data acquisition, APIs, services, reporting).
• Integrate industrial communication protocols (e.g., EtherCAT, OPC UA, Modbus, Profinet, TCP/IP).
• Perform commissioning, troubleshooting, and acceptance testing on-site when required.
• Produce technical documentation (design specs, test plans, user manuals) and contribute to code reviews and continuous improvement.

REQUIREMENTS:

• Bachelor/Master Degree in Computer Engineering, Automation Engineering, Electronic Engineering, or related fields

Technical skills and IT tools:

• Solid experience with PLC development—
  strongly preferred
  on Beckhoff TwinCAT 3 and NI (e.g., LabVIEW/TestStand); exposure to Siemens (TIA Portal/Step 7) is a plus.
• Experience with industrial communications and motion/control (EtherCAT, OPC UA, Modbus, Profinet, TCP/IP).
• HMI/SCADA development (e.g., TwinCAT HMI, WinCC, NI tools).
• Proficiency in high-level programming—
  Java
  required; knowledge of Python/C# is a plus.
• Familiarity with software engineering practices (OOP, design patterns, unit testing) and Git-based version control.
• Basic Windows administration; experience with virtualization (e.g.,
  VMware
  ) is
  preferred but not mandatory
  .
