OF THE TASKS

The requested profile is a network administrator for supporting security implementations within the network operations team.

In addition to the tasks described for the profile in Service Requirements document for the framework contract, the selected person will need to be able to support both daily operations for relevant services and contribute to the execution of new projects.

As described below, the main activities will be to support network administration within the network operations team, with skills in switching technologies, routing, Wi-Fi and network security, among others.

LEVEL OF EDUCATION

As stated in the Article of DIGIT-TM II Service requirements, a minimum educational qualification for lot 2 is: Level of education corresponding to Level 6 of the European Qualification Framework which typically corresponds to a bachelor's level or 3 years of higher education.

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS

The requested profile is a system administrator for the support to the network administration within the network operations team.

Knowledge requirements:


• Expert level:

o Switching technologies (particularly for Cisco), layer 2 network design. CCNA (CCNP as a plus) level certification from Cisco or any other networking vendor demonstrating knowledge

on the switching area of networking.

o Routing technologies, dynamic routing protocols, layer 3 network design.

o Wi-Fi technologies (particularly for Cisco products). o Network protocol services (NTP, DNS, DHCP, SNMP...).

o Cisco ACI networking technology (hardware knowledge also a plus). o VMware NSX platform.

o Network quality of service techniques and technologies. o Network security techniques and technologies.


• Administrator/Operator level:

o System administration of Linux servers (Red Hat Enterprise Linux, CentOS and others). o Network access control systems (NAC).

o Operating and monitoring of infrastructure, systems and servers (PRTG preferred).

o IDS/IPS network intrusion detection technologies. o Firewalling technologies (particularly Cisco and Fortinet


• Other cross-cutting competencies: o LAN technologies, TCP/IP protocol. o Netbox.

o Experience creating technical documentation. o Good communications skills in English. o Administration of server virtualization platforms (ie.

Vmware).

Due to the nature of a large international organisation such as the European Commission, candidates should also have the following non-technical skills:


• Capability of integration in an international/multicultural environment, rapid self-starting capability and experience in working in team.


• Ability to participate in multilingual meetings.


• Ability to work in multi-cultural environment, on multiple large projects.


• Excellent team player.


• Ability to understand, speak and write English. Italian will be an advantage.


• High degree of discretion and integrity is required as the applications managed and maintained in JRC.T.6 contain personal and confidential data

SPECIFIC EXPERTISE

Following specific expertise is mandatory for the performance of tasks:


• Cisco ACI management

CERTIFICATIONS & STANDARDS:


• CCNA is required for the performance of tasks.

Additional information:

The proposed candidate should be ready to travel to the premises of the Commission in Ispra for a physical interview upon request.
