Finance & Accounting Manager

Job Description
We are seeking a broad-skilled, detail-oriented Finance & Accounting Manager to provide robust financial oversight and hands-on operational support. You will ensure the accuracy and integrity of accounting processes and compliance with Italian regulations.

In this role, you will own all Italian accounting operations, month end close cycle, tax, and statutory compliance. You will deliver accurate statutory accounts aligned to Group IFRS, secure a clean audit, and maintain a fully compliant tax, VAT, and regulatory calendar. You will strengthen internal controls and partner with the business to improve performance, cash, and risk management.

Success in this position requires a proactive, analytical professional with strong communication and financial management skills in both Italian and English. You will be comfortable working independently while collaborating effectively with a global team based in Italy, Sweden, and Canada.

Job Requirements

• Degree in Accounting/Finance; with chartered accountant professional registration or equivalent preferred.
• 7+ years in Italy covering statutory accounting, VAT, and tax in an international setting.
• Strong OIC knowledge; working IFRS for consolidation; proven audit leadership.
• Deep understanding of Italian tax regulations
• Exposure to intercompany transaction processes and principles
• Ability to implement processes
• Advanced Excel; major ERP (JDE/SAP/Oracle/NetSuite).
• Fluent Italian and strong English; stakeholder and team leadership capability.
• Highly analytical with a meticulous attention to detail.
• Self-starter who can work within a cross-functional team.

Job Responsibilities

Accounting   operations & reporting

• Oversee   accounting operations and month end close activities
• Run   the month/quarter/year-end close, reconciliations, management packs, and   submissions as per the group timetable.
• Prepare   statutory financial statements and notes; support Group IFRS consolidation   (revenue, leases, FX, impairment).
• Maintain   GL, fixed assets, inventory/costing, accruals/provisions; oversee AR/AP,   credit control, and support treasury activities and cash forecasting.
• Lead   ERP process discipline (e.g., JDE/SAP/Oracle/NetSuite), approvals, and   documentation.
• Maintain   the relevant statutory and tax registers and listing required for local   compliance

Regulatory   compliance

• Direct   & local taxes
• IRES/IRAP:   ensure correct calculation, payments (F24), and e-filing of annual returns by   the end of the 10th month after year-end (31 October for calendar year) and   manage assessments/audits.
• Withholding   agent obligations: manage payroll and vendor WHT, monthly F24 remittances,   and annual reporting (Modello 770, due 31 October, noting simplifications where additional data transmitted via F24 may exempt the
• IMU/TARI   and minor local taxes: ensure correct calculation and timely payments (in   coordination with advisers).
• Oversee   processing for E-invoicing via SDI (FatturaPA) for domestic and cross-border   flows; maintain correct TD codes (e.g., TD17–TD19/TD28; 2025 spec updates)   and compliant digital registrations.
• Periodic   VAT settlements (liquidazioni IVA) and payments (monthly/quarterly) and LIPE   quarterly communication; ensure annual Modello IVA is filed on time.
• Intrastat   returns for EU movements of goods/services, monitoring quarterly thresholds   and switching frequency as required.
• Ensure   that the appropriate direct and indirect tax registers are maintain – VAT   registers etc.

Employment   reporting and processing the required accounting entries

• Oversee   payroll provider for INPS/INAIL contributions and deliver the annual   Certificazione Unica (CU) to employees and the tax agency by 16 March.

Companies   Registry, audit & governance

• Coordinate   statutory audit; obtain a clean opinion and close points promptly.
• File   approved statutory accounts (XBRL) and corporate changes with Registro   Imprese/Camera di Commercio on time.
• Maintain   statutory books, board/shareholder minutes, and related corporate secretariat   records.

Monitoring   & change management

• Ensure the implementation and   adherence to robust internal control systems.
• Identify opportunities for   process improvements in accounting, reporting, and compliance workflows.
• Track   updates from Agenzia delle Entrate and EU VAT reforms (e.g., domestic VAT law   changes through 2025), update policies, and train the finance team.

Business   partnering & leadership

• Primary   finance contact for Country GM and operations; deliver margin, WC and cash   insights and improvement plans.
• Build,   coach, and performance-manage the local finance team; manage outsourcers and   SLAs.
• Lead   finance projects (process automation, e-invoicing/SDI updates,   inventory/costing reviews).
• Coordinate with cross-functional   teams, such as HR, procurement, and operations, to ensure smooth financial   operations.
• Act as a key point of contact for   internal and external stakeholders regarding financial matters related to the   Italy operations.
