Job Purpose
The Technical Project Manager - External Manufacturing Governance (Pharma) is part of the External Manufacturing organization within Group Industrial Operations.

The role is responsible for the strategic governance and cross-functional coordination of Contract Manufacturing Organizations (CMOs) projects, ensuring that external manufacturing activities are aligned with company objectives, regulatory expectations, and long-term supply strategies.

The role provides oversight, prioritization, and orchestration of CMO strategic initiatives, enabling effective decision-making and consistent governance across the external manufacturing network.

Key Responsibilities

  • Act as the governance lead for External Manufacturing projects related to CMOs, ensuring alignment between business strategy and functional execution.
  • Coordinate and chair cross-functional forums (e.g. CMO governance meetings, technical review boards, escalation committees) to ensure structured decision-making.
  • Define and maintain the overall roadmap for projects involving CMOs (e.g. tech transfers, major changes, remediation plans, capacity or capability development).
  • Oversee the prioritization of CMO-related initiatives, balancing quality, regulatory, supply, cost, and resource constraints.
  • Provide consolidated visibility on risks, dependencies, and critical issues impacting external manufacturing, facilitating timely escalation and resolution.
  • Contribute to CMO performance governance by coordinating inputs to KPI frameworks, performance reviews, and continuous improvement roadmaps.
  • Support senior management in strategic decisions related to external manufacturing network design, CMO selection, and partnership evolution.

Required Education
Degree in Chemistry and Pharmaceutical Technologies, Pharmacy, Chemistry, Biology, Engineering, or a related scientific discipline

Required Skills And Experience

  • 6-10 years of experience of Operations, Project Management, or Supply Chain in pharmaceutical manufacturing roles.
  • Demonstrated experience in governance, cross-functional coordination, and strategic oversight of CMOs in a GMP-regulated environment.

Preferred Qualifications / Nice To Have

  • Experience managing governance of international CMO networks.
  • Knowledge of global pharmaceutical regulatory frameworks (EMA, FDA, ICH).
  • Formal training or certification in Project, Program, or Portfolio Management.

*Technical Competencies*

  • Strong understanding of pharmaceutical manufacturing processes and GMP requirements.
  • Knowledge of tech transfer governance, change management frameworks, validation strategies, and regulatory impact assessment.
  • Experience with performance management systems, KPI governance, and risk management at portfolio or network level.
  • Ability to translate complex technical and quality topics into structured inputs for senior leadership decision-making.
  • Good understanding of external manufacturing business models, cost drivers, and long-term supply strategies.

  • Excellent stakeholder management and facilitation skills at senior and cross-functional levels.
