JOB TITLE: Strategy and Litigation Support Junior Consultant
TYPE OF CONTRACT: Junior Regular Consultant

UNIT/DIVISION: OIGI
DUTY STATION (City, Country): HQ Rome (Remote working from PPR)
DURATION: From December 2025 to November 2026

BACKGROUND AND PURPOSE OF THE ASSIGNMENT:

This position is located in the Strategy and Litigation Support (SLS) Team of the Office of Inspections and Investigations. The successful candidate will operate as a team member and will report to the Chief, SLS or his/her designate.

ACCOUNTABILITIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. ADVISORY

• Contribute to analysing and providing basic technical advice on communications and intake matters where there is potential litigation risk.

• Contribute to advising OIGI investigation teams on ongoing investigations relating to challenges occurring during the investigative process, interpretation of the OIGI framework, WFP or UN policies, or other potential litigation risks.

• Under guidance, review and advise OIGI colleagues on OIGI reports and other OIGI work products to ensure evidential sufficiency and professional standards.

• Contribute to investigations work by participating in investigations and drafting OIGI work products.

• Other duties as assigned.

2. FRAMEWORK:

• Assist with the development and update of the OIGI operational framework (policies, standard operating procedures (SOPs), guidelines, and templates) including challenges to the status quo.

• Keep abreast of relevant WFP and UN policies and decisions of administrative tribunals and assist in communicating to OIGI employees when these have a direct impact on the work of OIGI.

• Assist in providing and coordinating feedback on WFP policies that have an oversight dimension.
3. CAPACITY BUILDING:

• OIGI team: Participate in capacity building activities to socialize existing policy and related developments in coordination with the training coordinator.

• Stakeholders:
o Contribute to the delivery of sessions on awareness raising related to OIGI's work for all employees and specialized functions.
o Support capacity building initiatives with key stakeholders.

DELIVERABLES AT THE END OF THE CONTRACT:

Successful completion of tasks listed under above TORs, as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
Education: A university degree in Investigations, Law, Audit, Accounting, or relevant discipline.

Experience: Previous experience working with the United Nations system or other international organizations is desirable.

Knowledge& Skills:

•  Analytical Insight: Leveraging analytical tools and methodologies to uncover insights and 
support decision-making.

•  Resourcefulness, initiative, maturity and the ability to work independently.

•  Strategic Planning: Devising comprehensive plans for investigations, aligning with organizational goals and legal requirements.

•  Communication and cultural sensitivity: Coordinating effectively with local officials, governments and external organizations to obtain necessary support such as interpreters or information providers to facilitate investigative work.

Languages:

Written and oral proficiency in English. Knowledge of another UN official language (French, Arabic, Spanish, Russian or Chinese) or Portuguese is an advantage.
