BACKGROUND AND PURPOSE OF THE ASSIGNMENT:
United Nations' system-wide reform efforts, including UN80, are advancing work to build more coherent, efficient, and impactful UN supply chain operations, particularly in complex environments.
Within this context, the Integrated UN Supply Chain Initiative seeks to improve how UN supply chain capabilities are organised and used across agencies, with a focus on reducing fragmentation, strengthening collaboration, and improving efficiency and performance across upstream procurement, global logistics, and in-country delivery.
The World Food Programme (WFP), as a leading operational and logistics agency within the UN system, plays a central role in convening, shaping, and advancing this work.
To support this effort, WFP seeks a Senior Project Manager to provide leadership, coordination, and strategic oversight of WFP's contribution to the Integrated UN Supply Chain Initiative, anchor inter-agency engagement, and ensure alignment between inter-agency design work and WFP's internal readiness to deliver

The purpose of this assignment is to ensure that WFP's role in the Integrated UN Supply Chain Initiative is credible, coherent, well-sequenced, and deliverable in practice.
The Senior Project Manager will provide the dedicated senior capacity required to translate inter-agency design and governance into coordinated action, ensuring that WFP's contributions are aligned internally, delivered to a consistent standard, and able to keep pace with evolving system-wide expectations.
In doing so, the role bridges inter-agency coordination and WFP's internal readiness, supporting quality, continuity, and sustained momentum across the Initiative

ACCOUNTABILITIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Provide senior project management and coordination for WFP's role in the Integrated UN Supply Chain Initiative, ensuring alignment with UN80 and WFP corporate priorities, and effective collaboration across relevant WFP Divisions and inter-agency counterparts.
2. Serve as WFP's senior day-to-day coordination anchor for the Initiative, ensuring continuity, momentum, and disciplined follow-through across inter-agency coordination and technical processes.
3. Advise senior WFP leadership in their inter-agency roles by identifying and synthesising issues, framing options, and overseeing background material and structured follow-up.
4. Enable effective inter-agency coordination in practice by leading WFP's input to work-planning, information flows, documentation, and action tracking, ensuring agreed directions translate into concrete next steps.
5. Lead, manage, and mentor a WFP project team, setting priorities, structuring workplans, and ensuring timely, coherent, and high-quality outputs in support of both WFP and inter-agency commitments.

6.Represent WFP in senior inter-agency coordination and technical fora, as delegated, ensuringcontinuity, credibility, and consistency of engagement, while clearly articulating WFP's strategicinterests, operational capacities, and institutional priorities.
7.Provide strategic guidance to inter-agency technical and coordination fora on interoperableapproaches across legal, financial, operational, and systems dimensions of the Initiative.
8.Coordinate WFP's substantive technical contributions to the Initiative, working with seniordesignated leads across relevant SCD functions.
9.Lead the development and consolidation of analytical inputs, baselines, and key performanceindicators to enable evidence-based decision-making and impact measurement over time.
10.Coordinate WFP's internal readiness to deliver on Initiative commitments by mobilising andaligning senior technical expertise across relevant SCD and other corporate functions (includingCFO, Legal, TEC, and HR), ensuring coherent backend enablement and early identification ofdependencies, risks, and systemic gaps.
11.Navigate complex inter-institutional dynamics across the UN system, particularly amonghumanitarian actors, to sustain political and operational support for the Integrated UN SupplyChain Initiative.
12.Perform any other duties as may be required.

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

  • Education:

Advanced / Master's degree in a relevant field (e.g., International Law, International Relations, Supply Chain Management, Public Administration, or related discipline).

  • Experience:

12–15 years of progressive professional experience, including managing operations and teams in international humanitarian contextsExperience in drafting documents, guidelines and reports
Substantial exposure to, or experience in, WFP operations, development of policies/directives, and complex humanitarian emergency responses.
Substantive experience in inter-agency negotiations and collaboration

  • Knowledge & Skills:

Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills;
Resourcefulness, initiative, maturity of judgement, tact, and strong negotiating skills;
Familiarity with and experience in the development and application of WFP policies, directives, and operations, particularly in complex humanitarian settings;
Demonstrated ability to lead, guide, and mentor teams;
Flexibility in accepting work assignments beyond standard scope; and
Ability to establish priorities and to plan, coordinate, and monitor work timelines and plans.

  • Languages:

Fluency in English is required
