Tax Insurance Broker

Marsh is looking for a Tax Professional to join our Tax and Contingent Risk Practice within the Private Equity and M&A (PEMA) team as Tax Insurance Broker based in Milan.

This position presents an excellent opportunity to gain exposure to all facets of the M&A Insurance industry as the business enters an exciting period of exponential growth. It's an ideal role for commercially minded M&A professionals looking to leverage their expertise in an entrepreneurial and collaborative environment, joining one of the fastest-growing sectors within Insurance.

With more than two decades of M&A experience, Marsh advises on insurance services to buyers and sellers at all stages of an M&A transaction. When assessing the legal, financial and tax risks and consequences of an M&A process, it is also key to prepare from an insurance perspective.

In 2024 Marsh PEMA alone has placed more than 90 deals with an aggregate limit of liability of approx. EUR 3bn and a deal value of more than EUR 15bn.

Marsh PEMA is looking to expand the team to further increase its market position, following a strong development of Insurance M&A market. The purpose of this position is to be part of the M&A transaction services practice for the Private Equity and M&A market in Italy, to serve as strategic deal advisor to clients during transactions and to support the growth of the business.

What can you expect?

  • Structure and place Tax Insurance Policies and manage direct negotiations with Transactional Risk Insurance market. This encompasses handling the entire underwriting process, with specific focus on Italian deals starting with confidentiality agreements, preparing non-binding indications, drafting policies, negotiating contract terms, preparing underwriting requests, and issue of policy documents;

  • Interact with Private Equity Firms and Corporations, C-Suite members (i.e. CEO, COO, CFO), Law Firms, Investment Banks and other members of the M&A community to source deals;

  • Building relationships with colleagues in Italy and abroad to serve as strategic deal advisor to clients and support the growth of the M&A insurance business.

Requirements:

  • Master of Laws, Economics or Business Administration and Law;

  • Tax lawyer or chartered accountant with experience in corporate and individual tax issues in private practice or in house tax team, possibly with exposure to M&A transactions;

  • Up to 7 years previous working experience, no previous insurance experience is required, however, a genuine motivation to develop your career within the insurance industry is essential;

  • Fluent in written and spoken English (any other language is a plus);

  • Ability to operate effectively in high-pressure and multi-tasking environment.

  • Great team member and high sense of responsibility;

  • Positive attitude, attention to details and a high degree of persuasiveness;

  • International experience will be considered a plus.
