Position:
We are looking for a Senior Backend Engineer to join our team and help develop and maintain the Core Platform at Musixmatch, which serves as a central point of contact for both our backend services and frontend applications. Your main focus will be to build a reusable and extensible ecosystem that enables faster and more efficient delivery across the Core Engineering team. Your work will have a significant impact on our engineers, customers, and end users.
What you will do:
Build and improve our backend systems that power our services and applications. Design, develop and deploy new features, APIs and databases with high availability, low latency and scalability in mind. Build and operate infrastructure and deployment pipelines. Collaborate closely with other engineers and become a point of reference within an autonomous, multi-functional team. Push to continuously improve our engineering practices and experience.
Requirements:
You are proficient in at least one of the following languages: - JavaScript - PHP You have solid knowledge of backend development in and/or PHP. You have an advanced understanding of the main architectural patterns, styles and models to build robust APIs, such as REST, and microservices. You have an advanced understanding of both relational and non-relational databases and you are comfortable doing query optimizations as well as solving scalability and reliability problems related to databases. You are comfortable processing and analyzing large data sets in batch, e.g., using message queues. You are experienced working with modern infrastructure and tools, and you are interested in keeping up with current best practices. You are comfortable running your software in CI/CD environments. You are familiar with Linux/Unix shell scripting. You are comfortable with AI-assisted software development. You are proactive and you are willing to take initiative and to give direction to the team. You are pragmatic and understand that speed is often as important as quality when getting things done in a fast-paced environment. You are hard-working and willing to get your hands dirty. No matter what, you always strive to get the job done also by stepping out of your work remit if needed. You are fluent in English.

Nice to have:
Familiarity with AWS services, such as DynamoDB and S3. Familiarity with observability. Experience with TypeScript and GraphQL. Experience with PHP Mezzio framework. Experience with Docker and Kubernetes. Experience with Couchbase. Familiarity with agile processes.
