Job Description:

Understanding of ISO 20022 and SWIFT MT message standards. (Key requirement)

Exposure to payment hub modernization, API-based payment flows, or open banking frameworks.

Experience working in agile environments (user stories, backlog management, sprint ceremonies).

Functional Analysis & Specification Writing

Conduct detailed discussions with banks, payment processors, and financial institutions to understand their business needs, system requirements, and operational constraints.

Translate business requirements into clear, comprehensive functional specifications, including workflow diagrams, data mapping, use cases, acceptance criteria, and process definitions.

Prepare documentation such as BRD, FSD, user stories, sequence flows, and matrixes for payment processing scenarios.

Ensure all functional documentation aligns with European regulatory frameworks and Italian domestic payment standards.

Payments Domain Expertise

Provide subject-matter expertise on:

European payment schemes (SEPA, SEPA Instant, SCT/SDD, TARGET services, SWIFT, RT1).

Italian domestic payment systems including domestic clearing processes, and local regulatory norms.

Interpret guidelines from PSD2/PSD3, ECB/EBA, AML directives, and incorporate them into functional requirements when necessary.

Collaboration with Technical Teams

Explain functional requirements, business flows, and payment logic to technical and mainframe engineering teams, ensuring clear alignment on solution design.

Review technical designs, test cases, and system outputs to validate alignment with functional requirements.

Stakeholder Management & Support

Maintain ongoing communication with client banks to clarify requirements, validate solutions, and address functional questions throughout the project lifecycle.

Facilitate requirement walkthroughs, workshops, and sign-off sessions.

Support UAT by preparing test scenarios and helping business users validate payment flows.
