RINA is currently recruiting for a Building Engineering and Building Physics Senior Architect to join its office in Genoa, Italy within the Civil Engineering Division.

Mission

The Senior Architect leads the design and execution of complex building projects, with a focus on sustainability, building physics, and engineering integration. The role combines creative architectural vision with technical performance, ensuring that all projects meet high standards of functionality, aesthetics, regulatory compliance, and environmental responsibility.

Key Accountabilities

Architectural Design Leadership

  • Lead the development of innovative and sustainable architectural solutions aligned with client needs, technical constraints, and regulatory requirements.

Project Management

  • Define project scope, schedules, and deliverables in collaboration with engineering project management teams and stakeholders. Monitor progress across all project phases.

Building Physics & Performance Integration

  • Collaborate with specialists in building physics to embed energy efficiency, thermal comfort, and environmental quality into design solutions.

Regulatory Compliance

  • Ensure architectural plans and specifications comply with local and international building codes, zoning laws, and sustainability certifications.

Team Leadership & Mentorship

  • Guide junior architects and coordinate with multidisciplinary teams (structural, MEP, sustainability consultants) to ensure project cohesion.

Construction Oversight

  • Support site supervision activities, ensuring design intent is preserved during execution and resolving technical/design-related challenges.

Client and Stakeholder Engagement

  • Act as a key point of contact for clients and stakeholders, communicating design concepts, technical decisions, and project updates effectively.

Documentation & Reporting

  • Prepare high-quality technical documentation, presentations, and reports, supporting both internal reviews and external submissions.

Education

Bachelor's Degree in Architecture

Qualifications

  • Professional architectural license or equivalent qualification (preferred)

  • Minimum of 15 years of experience in architectural design and project leadership, ideally in integrated design environments

  • Experience in sustainable building design and familiarity with energy modeling or environmental assessment tools is a plus

  • Strong design sensibility with proven experience in sustainable and performance-based architecture

  • Deep knowledge of building codes, construction technologies, and materials

  • Proficiency in BIM and design tools: AutoCAD, Revit, Rhino, Adobe Suite

  • Excellent organizational, communication, and team management skills

  • Ability to work in cross-functional and multicultural environments

  • Problem-solving mindset with attention to technical and design detail

  • Strong stakeholder management and presentation abilities. #LI-AU5
