About the job:

Role Overview:

The Finance and Control Specialist for BBVA Italy will be responsible for contributing to the local finance and control strategy, ensuring alignment with the overall goals of BBVA Digital Banks. This role involves applying local expertise in financial reporting, budgeting, and analysis, while working in close coordination with the central Finance and Control teams located in BBVA's Madrid headquarters.

The role ensures Italy's insights and regulatory needs are represented in global decision-making while guaranteeing consistent execution of centrally defined strategies.

Core Responsibilities:

Local Strategy & Insights:

• Collect local market insights and dynamics to inform financial strategy and control.

• Contribute to the overall financial strategy by reflecting local market needs and regulatory requirements.

• Ensure local requirements and key insights are addressed by connecting them to central execution.

Coordination & Collaboration:

• Act as a key contributor for finance and control for BBVA Italy General Manager.

• Coordinate with local resources and ensure their effective contribution to financial management.

• Collaborate closely with the central Finance and Control teams in Madrid, ensuring coherence of financial practices and reporting.

• Support the localization of financial processes and ensure their implementation in coordination with the central team.

Finance & Control Execution:

• Financial Reporting: Support accurate and timely financial reporting, ensuring compliance with local regulations and BBVA Group standards.

• Budgeting & Forecasting: Contribute to the local budgeting and forecasting processes, providing insightful analysis to support strategic decision-making.

• Ensure operational efficiency and continuous improvement of financial control mechanisms.

Cost Management & Efficiency: 

• Conduct thorough cost analyses, identify inefficiencies, and propose strategies to reduce expenses without compromising service quality or strategic objectives.

• Support central functions in monitoring budgets against actual expenditures and providing regular reports on cost performance to support informed decision-making and ensure the financial health of the digital bank.

• Manage local purchases and contracts, identifying more efficient solutions when available.

Reporting and Alignment:

• Report hierarchically to the GM of Digital Bank Italy.

• Report functionally to the Digital Banks Head of Finance & Control.

• Ensure all activities are in alignment with central standards and execution to maximize scale and cost efficiency.

Key Competencies:

• Commitment to BBVA's cultural principles: One Team, trust, care, accountability, and substance before form.

• Knowledge of the Italian banking sector's financial KPIs and regulation, acquired through a 5+ years career in Finance, Accounting, Planning and control.

• Degree in Finance, Economics, Management Engineering or STEM. 

• Strong numerical agility and ability to use Data and Forecasting tools.

• Strong understanding of financial principles, accounting standards, and control strategies.

• Ability to work effectively within a team and contribute to shared goals.

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for effective collaboration with central and local teams.

• Strategic thinking with an ability to translate global financial strategies into local action.

• Results-oriented with a focus on measurable outcomes.

• Native Italian speaker, fluency in English a must, Spanish preferable.
