Overview

Maia Ventures is an early-stage venture capital fund based in Milan, investing in agrifoodtech startups that make the global food system healthier, more efficient, and more resilient.

Backed by institutional investors and key players across the agrifood value chain, Maia is looking for an Associate / Senior Associate to join the team. This is a unique opportunity to be part of a mission-driven fund and to work directly with founders and partners shaping the future of food and agriculture.

Job Summary

We are seeking a highly analytical and driven Associate / Senior Associate to join our investment team.

You'll work closely with the partners and portfolio founders, conducting in-depth market research, financial modeling, and due diligence, while helping shape investment theses and sourcing the next generation of agrifoodtech innovators.

Requirements. We're looking for someone who is:

  • Passionate about transforming the agrifood system. Direct experience isn't required, but curiosity and conviction are.
  • Experienced in private investments, ideally venture capital, with a clear understanding of VC dynamics.
  • Preferably educated in a STEM field (engineering, food science, biotech, or similar preferred).
  • Willing to relocate to Milan to be part of the team on the ground.
  • A low-ego, high-ownership and hustler mentality. Culture is key in such a small team and fast-moving environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Market Research & Sourcing: Identify emerging trends, scout high-potential startups, and build founder relationships.
  • Investment Analysis & Due Diligence: Conduct financial, technical, and commercial evaluations to support investment decisions.
  • Portfolio Support & Management: Work with portfolio companies to help them grow, fundraise, and scale.
  • Fund Operations & Reporting: Contribute to internal processes, portfolio tracking, and investor communications
