BACKGROUND AND PURPOSE OF THE ASSIGNMENT:
This position is located in the Public Partnerships Division of the World Food Programme's (WFP) Headquarters in Rome, Italy. The Consultant will be assigned to the Due Diligence Unit within the Partner Governments and Partnerships Support Service.
 

ACCOUNTABILITIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:
As part of its Resource Mobilization Strategy, WFP is establishing a new Due Diligence Unit within the Public Partnerships Division. Under the general supervision of the Head of Due Diligence, the responsibilities of the Consultant will include:

• Conducting detailed research on prospective donors/partners, with a focus on core values and principles concerning human rights, labour, the environment and anti-corruption, as reflected in the United Nations Global Compact and the Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights.

• Identifying practices and policies that may pose a reputational risk to WFP, or otherwise appear to compromise the integrity or independence of the organization.

• Drafting and editing reports, presenting research findings in a neutral, accurate and concise format, including objective analysis of key facts and issues.

• Assisting with monitoring of team workflow to facilitate timely delivery of reports and training of new team members, as appropriate.

• Ensure effective knowledge management during and after the transfer of Due Diligence processes from LEG to PPD, including transfer or historical report and reference materials.

• Using and developing AI-enabled Due Diligence Research tools to increase the efficiency of Due Diligence research.

• Assisting with the development of reference materials, practice notes, training materials and other documents, as appropriate.

• Performing other duties as required.

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
Education:
Masters level degree or equivalent. A completed Bachelor level degree with additional directly relevant work experience may be considered.
Experience:
At least five years of directly relevant experience.
Knowledge & Skills:

•Significant experience in conducting open-source and database research;

•Excellent writing and analytical skills;

•Computer skills including Microsoft Office, Internet-based research and (ideally) Salesforce CRM platform;

•Strong time/project management skills and ability to work under stringent deadlines;

•Awareness of issues relevant to corporate social responsibility; and

•General knowledge of the United Nations system is an asset.
Languages:
Working knowledge (proficiency/Level C) of English; limited knowledge
(intermediate/Level B) of another official WFP language i.e., Arabic, French, Spanish, Portuguese, Chinese, Russian.
