R&D Senior Mechanical Designer Packaging

We are looking for a R&D Senior Mechanical Designer to join our team in Bologna and contribute to the development of our packaging solutions.
In this role you will contribute to the creation of new mechanical solutions and play a key role in driving product innovation. Your work will focus on designing cutting-edge machines that not only improve performance but also support sustainability by helping reduce energy consumption for our customers. Collaborating with internal stakeholders and your team, you will share ideas, solve problems and optimize existing projects to ensure efficiency, quality, and long-term value.
Your key responsibilities include:
- Create mechanical drawings and designs for our tissue packaging machines and technical equipment
- Manage client requests for new machines design or equipment update and oversee the process from the beginning to the completion
- Research and implement environmentally sustainable solutions aimed at reducing energy consumption and improving the overall efficiency of our machines
- Revamp or improve the equipment guaranteeing innovative and efficient solutions
- Also work to standardize and improve existing projects ensuring optimal use of materials, resources, costs and time
- Collaborate with different internal stakeholders during the design process
- Work closely with your team, share ideas and knowledge, find out problem solutions and propose improvements
To succeed in this role, you should have:
- Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent
- Proven experience in mechanical design, preferably in industrial machinery or packaging equipment
- Proficiency with 3D CAD modelling and drafting, preferably with Siemens NX software and knowledge of 2D CAD reading
- Knowledge of SAP is appreciated
- Previous experience and interest in developing sustainable and energy-efficient solutions is highly appreciated
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Proactive mindset with a willingness to take initiative and explore new ideas
- Openness to innovate taking the risk to experiment and innovate
- Interest to work in team, to exchange ideas and hints with colleagues as part of everyday working life
- Ability to interface also with cross-functional teams and exchange experience and knowledge in multinational contexts
- Fluent in English and Italian
