Group 08-87 | SRP Intern | Advanced Imager Technology | Summer 2026
1 settimana fa
The Advanced Imager Technology Group performs research and development of imager devices and subsystem-level technology for the DoD and scientific community. The imager efforts include advanced silicon-based and compound semiconductor-based focal-plane technologies for applications such as ground- and space-based surveillance, adaptive optics, and astronomy. These focal planes address special requirements, for example, large-format gigapixel arrays, very-high-speed imagers (100 ps exposures), time-of-arrival detectors (LADAR receiver), and low-light-level imaging applications. World-class charge-coupled-device (CCD) imagers fabricated by this group have been used in a variety of high-end scientific applications, for example, focal planes for the Chandra X-ray telescope and other preeminent astronomical observatories. The group's efforts span the range of device and materials development, integrated circuit design and fabrication, custom packaging, detector hybridization, and the development of control and readout electronics for system-level demonstrations.
Position DescriptionThe Advanced Imager Technology Group is seeking summer microelectronics interns to support microelectronics development and testing as well as semiconductor device fabrication and characterization. The work will involve hands-on lab work as well as creating code and scripts for image processing, data acquisition, analysis and presentation.
The ideal candidates should be proficient in Matlab, C, embedded computation and/or Python and familiar with Linux. Candidate must be pursuing a BS or MS degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Physics, or a related engineering field with at least one year of academic credits. The students must be US citizens.
Summer Research Program OverviewThe Summer Research Program offers students the chance to apply their academic knowledge to real-world national security challenges while working alongside leading scientists and engineers. As an SRP intern, you'll engage in hands-on research, receive dedicated mentorship, and take part in professional development opportunities including workshops, tech talks, and networking events—all while building connections within a vibrant community of peers.
- Internships are typically 10–12 weeks, with flexible start and end dates, typically May through early August.
- Housing support is available for eligible non-local interns, including access to discounted university housing in Boston and a one-time taxable relocation payment.
- Complimentary daily shuttle transportation is provided from Boston-based housing to and from the Lab.
