Senior Backend Developer

Location: Fully Remote (Europe / Asia - CET Daytime Hours)

We are searching for an experienced & proactive Senior Backend Developer ) to join the foundational team for an already launched, skill-based betting website.

Key Focus Areas

• Review and refactor our existing game server codebase (built on []), identifying architectural improvements for better scalability, stability, and maintainability.
• Develop and optimize the low-latency backend for real-time multiplayer game sessions (WebSockets), implementing authoritative server architecture, game state synchronization, player re connection handling, and matchmaking systems. 
• Implement robust server-side validation, anti-cheat measures, and fair-play systems to ensure secure and verifiable skill-based gameplay. Validate all player actions server-side to prevent cheating and ensure game integrity. 
• Integrate with existing 3rd party payment solutions (API integration, webhooks)
• Collaborate with game developers and designers to ensure seamless client-server integration and propose architectural improvements to support future gameplay features and system expansion. 
• While deep expertise in real-money gaming compliance is not required, you should be comfortable learning and implementing basic fair-play and security principles for a real-moneyplatform

Requirements

• 4+ years in backend development
• 2+ years of experience in the video game industry (must have built or shipped multiplayer titles)
• Strong hands-on experience with real-time multiplayer game server frameworks (e.g., Colyseus, Photon, Socket.IO, or similar) and backend development for browser-based games Expert-level proficiency in and TypeScript 
• Deep understanding of multiplayer game architecture, authoritative server patterns, client-server communication, and latency optimization 
• Meaningful experience with WebSocket management, server-side game state management, and session lifecycle handling 
• Solid grounding in security and fair-play best practices 
• Comfortable with Git workflows, server environments, and deploying highly available systems

• Familiarity with browser game client architectures, Phaser/PixiJS, or 2D game loops
• PostgreSQL optimization and migration experience
• Familiarity with Laravel/PHP for existing dashboard integration
• Experience with game server deployment (Docker, PM2, CI/CD)
• Comfortable using AI-assisted development tools (e.g., GitHub Copilot, Cursor
