Junior Finance Manager

About the Role
As a Junior Finance Manager at Scrambly, you will help keep our financial operations accurate, structured, and scalable while the business continues to grow. This role is strategically important because reliable financial data and disciplined financial processes directly impact decision-making, cash management, and the company's ability to invest efficiently.
You will support the Head of Finance across accounting operations, month-end close, internal reporting, and management control. Over time, you will progressively take ownership of recurring processes and become a key contributor to budgeting, forecasting, and performance analysis.
You will collaborate cross-functionally with teams like Marketing, Product, Operations, and Tech to collect inputs, validate data, and monitor the metrics that matter for the business. Your work will contribute to clearer financial visibility, faster internal reporting cycles, and stronger financial planning.
Key Responsibilities
- Accounting & Finance Operations
- Support daily accounting activities: collecting and validating invoices, checking the correctness of supporting documents, and ensuring proper categorization of costs and revenues
- Coordinate with external accountants and internal stakeholders to ensure timely and accurate bookkeeping and documentation
- Maintain structured finance documentation (contracts, invoices, approvals, payment proofs) to support audits and internal controls
- Month-End Close & Reconciliations
- Support the month-end closing process by preparing files, validating entries, and ensuring completeness of supporting documentation
- Perform reconciliations for bank accounts, payment providers, and key balance sheet accounts, flagging inconsistencies and proposing fixes
- Help improve the close process through checklists, timelines, and standardized reconciliation templates
- Reporting & Business Performance Monitoring
- Prepare recurring internal financial reports and summaries (P&L views, cost breakdowns, performance snapshots) for management use
- Monitor key metrics such as revenue, gross margin, user payouts (cost of revenue), marketing spend, operating expenses, and cash position
- Use tools like Excel/Google Sheets (pivot tables, lookups, structured models) to build and maintain reporting files and analysis outputs
- Budgeting, Forecasting & Management Control
- Support budgeting and forecasting cycles by collecting inputs, consolidating data, and updating financial models and assumptions
- Prepare monthly budget vs actual analysis, identify key variances, and summarize the drivers behind performance
- Contribute to the evolution of management control routines, including clearer cost allocation logic and standardized KPI reporting
- Cross-Functional Collaboration & Communication
- Work with Marketing and Growth teams to validate spend data and support performance tracking (e.g., spend pacing, CAC-level reasoning when applicable)
- Collaborate with Operations and Product stakeholders to understand cost drivers and ensure financial reporting reflects business reality
- Communicate clearly and proactively on timelines, missing inputs, and follow-ups needed to keep finance processes moving
- Bachelor's degree in Economics, Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or related fields;
- Solid understanding of accounting principles and the basics of management control (P&L logic, accruals, reconciliations, variance reasoning);
- Strong skills in Excel or Google Sheets (structured spreadsheets, pivot tables, lookups, basic financial modeling discipline);
- Ability to work with financial data accurately: attention to detail, consistency checks, and documentation hygiene;
- Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple tasks with deadlines (especially around month-end close);
- Problem-solving mindset: ability to spot anomalies, ask the right questions, and propose practical improvements;
- Collaboration skills: comfortable working with non-finance teams and collecting inputs in a structured way;
- Ownership and growth mindset: motivated to evolve from operational finance into planning, reporting, and decision support;
- English level: B2 (spoken and written) - needed to communicate with international stakeholders, read/vendor documentation, and produce clear internal reporting in English.
- First experience (internship or 1+ year) in accounting, FP&A, management control, audit, or consulting
- Experience working in a fast-paced environment (startup, scale-up, digital business)
- A role with real exposure to both finance operations and business finance, with increasing ownership as you grow
- Direct mentorship from the Head of Finance and a clear path to expand into budgeting, forecasting, and performance management
- The opportunity to work in a fast-growing international company where finance impacts real strategic decisions
- High learning curve: hands-on involvement in building scalable finance processes, reporting routines, and stronger internal controls
- Cross-functional visibility and collaboration with teams that drive core business performance
