Background and purposes of the assignment:

The United Nations World Food Programme (WFP) is the world's largest humanitarian organization, operating in over 120 countries to combat global hunger. The Office of Internal Audit (OIGA), under the Office of the Inspector General (OIG), provides independent and objective assurance and advisory services to address risks and enhance WFP's operational effectiveness.

The primary objective of the Data Analyst Consultant is to develop and deploy data science products and analytical solutions to enhance OIGA's capabilities in risk management, governance, and control processes. This includes data acquisition, advanced analytics, and effective communication of insights.

Accountabilities and responsibilities:

• Identify, acquire, and validate data sources for audits, risk assessments, and investigations.
• Apply quality assurance methods to structure, clean, and format datasets for analysis.
• Assist in conducting audits and investigations by providing data-driven insights. Produce high-quality findings and reports within stipulated timelines.
• Create customized data visualization products, including dashboards, interactive reports, and presentations, tailored to stakeholder needs.
• Collaborate with OIGA's auditors, investigators, and clients to integrate analytics into assurance activities.
• Clearly communicate findings and recommendations to diverse audiences, including senior management.
• Train and mentor internal staff on data science tools and best practices.
• Stay abreast of advancements in data science and analytics to propose enhancements to tools, processes, and methodologies.

Deliverables at the end of the contract:

• Python scripts used to extract, transform and load data.
• Structured and validated datasets ready for analysis.
• Analytical products, including predictive models, Tableau dashboards, and visualizations.
• Comprehensive reports detailing data-driven insights and recommendations.
• Training materials and workshops for OIGA staff.
• Documentation of methodologies and processes.

Qualifications and experienced required:

Education: Advanced university degree (master's or equivalent) in Data Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Computer Science, or related fields.

Experience: Minimum of 5 years of relevant professional experience in data analytics, data science, or related domains.

Knowledge and skills:

• Proficiency in following programming languages and tools: Python, SQL, Tableau and Azure DevOps.
• Previous experience in the context of international organizations is desirable.
• Familiarity with internal audit and risk management processes is desirable.
• Familiarity with Amazon Web Services is desirable.

• Effective communication and interpersonal abilities.
• Capacity to work collaboratively in a multicultural team.
• Proficiency in visualizing and presenting complex data clearly and compellingly.
• Effective time management and the ability to deliver under tight deadlines.

Fluency in English (Level C). Knowledge of another UN language (e.g., French, Spanish) is an asset
