Interdisciplinary Sys Engineer, GES NA Ops Engineering Job ID: ******* | Amazon.com Services LLCAmazon created one of the most sophisticated supply chains in the world.From the introduction of Amazon Prime, to the use of advanced technology for package delivery, Amazon consistently drives change from the front of the pack.Amazon is now searching for an innovative and custom solutions-oriented Interdisciplinary System Engineer to be a part of our global initiative of developing and delivering the next generation of world-class fulfillment systems.Successful candidates are natural self-starters who have prior Hardware engineering experience in the integrated automation project life cycle, including custom product development, design, implementation, enhancement, and support.As an Interdisciplinary System Development Engineer for Amazon Fulfillment, the successful candidate will work with some of the most talented engineers, scientists in simulation and optimization to develop and deliver physical distribution systems worldwide.The candidate will lead initiatives and complex cross-functional projects or programs that focus on building new, altering existing, and closing end-of-life material handling and technology systems inclusive of Hardware, Controls and Software.They will also lead the design and development of hardware, including sensors and edge-compute devices for a next-generation Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT) platform to improve equipment, process and operator workflows.The role requires strong technical problem-solving abilities, project management skills, and a drive to achieve results in a fast-paced and often ambiguous environment.You must be responsive, flexible, and able to succeed within an open collaborative environment.Amazon's culture encourages innovation and expects engineers to take a high level of ownership in solving complex problems.Come help us make historyThis role requires 30% travel and availability to work from a corporate office when not traveling.Candidates should either live near or be willing to relocate within a reasonable commuting distance of the office.Relocation assistance may be provided.Key job responsibilitiesLead and manage the lifecycle of complex cross-functional projects with considerable impact.Projects may span organizations or geographies in support of a business objective.Design, develop, and emulate engineering solutions for complex material handling challenges considering human/equipment interactions for the North America fulfillment network.Design, develop and configure IIoT hardware for equipment, process and operator workflow improvements.Lead and coordinate concept efforts for optimal solutions for the North America fulfillment network through equipment specification, material flow, process design, ergonomics, associate experience, operational considerations and site layout.Work with Scientists to create highly advanced simulation models and run "what-if" scenarios to help drive optimal Hardware solutions.Work closely with internal teams to ensure that every detail is thought through and documented using Standard Operating Procedures and/or structured change control.Work closely with vendors, suppliers and other teams to come up with innovative solutions.Simultaneously manage multiple projects and tasks while effectively influencing, negotiating, and communicating with internal and external business partners.Artifact (research, schematics, specifications, prototypes, 3D Models, analysis, test plans, strategic narratives, etc.) and set the standard in organization for engineering excellence.Able to communicate ideas effectively to achieve the right outcome for team and customer.Seek diverse perspectives, listen to feedback, and are willing to change direction if it creates a better outcome.Harmonize discordant views and lead the resolution of contentious issues (build consensus).Travel up to 30% throughout North America, which can vary up to three weeks consecutive travel including weekends.A day in the lifeAmazon offers a full range of benefits that support you and eligible family members, including domestic partners and their children.Benefits can vary by location, the number of regularly scheduled hours you work, length of employment, and job status such as seasonal or temporary employment.The benefits that generally apply to regular, full-time employees include:Medical, Dental, and Vision CoverageMaternity and Parental Leave OptionsPaid Time Off (PTO)401(k) PlanAbout the teamThe Science & Advance Concepts (SAC) Team is responsible for optimizing material handling operations, enhancing automation, and driving innovation through Simulation/Emulation, Data Integrity/Analysis, and Pilot Development for existing first and middle mile buildings.Basic QualificationsBachelor's degree in Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or other STEM field;
