Senior Applied Scientist, Amazon Industrial RoboticsJob ID: | Amazon.com Services LLCAmazon Industrial Robotics is seeking exceptional talent to help develop the next generation of advanced robotics systems that will transform automation at Amazon's scale.We are building robotic systems that combine AI, control systems, and mechanical design to create adaptable automation solutions capable of working safely with humans in dynamic environments.This is a unique opportunity to shape the future of robotics and automation at scale, working with teams pushing the boundaries of robotic manipulation, locomotion, and human-robot interaction.We are seeking a Senior Applied Scientist to develop innovative and scalable solutions in motion planning and feedback controls for complex robotic systems.You will develop robot physics models, perform analysis, and implement algorithms for control and estimation of robotic systems.You will collaborate with perception, machine learning, motion planning, and feedback controls teams to solve real-world problems.As part of your work, you will investigate academic and industry research to develop, implement, and test solutions that support product features.You will design and validate production designs.You should have a strong working knowledge of physical systems, a desire to learn from challenges, and problem-solving and communication skills to work in a highly interactive team.Candidates should have hands-on passion and be able to communicate ideas verbally and visually.Key job responsibilitiesConduct research, design, implement, and assess feedback control and motion planning algorithms, ensuring integration across disciplines.Develop experiments and build prototypes to implement control algorithms, planners, and optimization techniques.Collaborate with software engineering teams to ensure scalable, real-time implementation of algorithms.Partner with cross-functional engineering teams to deploy algorithms from prototyping to production-level implementation.Engage with hardware, scientific, and operational stakeholders to iterate on system design and implementation.Basic QualificationsExperience programming in Java, C++, Python or related languageExperience with neural deep learning methods and machine learningPhD in engineering, technology, computer science, machine learning, robotics, operations research, statistics, mathematics or equivalent quantitative field5+ years of industry or academic research experienceExperience in building machine learning models for business applications5+ years of industry or academic research experience in applied robotics research with a focus on motion planning and feedback controlsPreferred QualificationsExperience with modeling tools such as R, scikit-learn, Spark MLLib, MxNet, TensorFlow, numpy, scipyExperience with large-scale distributed systems such as Hadoop, SparkExperience in patents or publications at top-tier peer-reviewed conferences or journalsProven ability to innovate and develop robust and scalable solutions to complex robotics problemsExperience in trajectory optimization for multi-degree-of-freedom (multi-DOF) robotic systemsExperience in designing controllers using Model Predictive Control, Optimal Control, etc.Experience in developing and deploying reinforcement learning algorithms in real-world robotics applicationsAmazon is an equal opportunity employer and does not discriminate on the basis of protected veteran status, disability, or other legally protected status.Our inclusive culture empowers Amazonians to deliver the best results for our customers.If you have a disability and need a workplace accommodation or adjustment during the application and hiring process, including support for the interview or onboarding process, please visit for more information.If the country/region you're applying in isn't listed, please contact your Recruiting Partner.The base salary range for this position is listed below.Your Amazon package will include sign-on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs).Final compensation will be determined based on factors including experience, qualifications, and location.Amazon also offers comprehensive benefits including health insurance (medical, dental, vision, prescription, Basic Life & AD&D insurance and option for Supplemental life plans, EAP, Mental Health Support, Medical Advice Line, Flexible Spending Accounts, Adoption and Surrogacy Reimbursement coverage), 401(k) matching, paid time off, and parental leave.Learn more about our benefits atUSA, MA, N.Reading - 167,************,****** USD annually#J-*****-Ljbffr
