DSP / Telecommunications Engineer – Satellite Communications (MATLAB Simulation) – Bari, Apulia – €32k+ DOE + EquityLocation:Bari, Apulia, Italy (Hybrid working available)Salary:Minimum RAL €32,000 + Stock Option PlanOverviewA fast-growing space technology company is seeking a DSP / Telecommunications Engineer to support the development of next-generation satellite communication systems.Operating at the intersection of satellite communications, signal processing, and real-time data systems, the company delivers technology used in natural disaster detection, emergencymanagement, space monitoring, and defence applications.This role is focused on DSP algorithm design, system-level simulation, and validation, with a strong emphasis on MATLAB/Simulink modelling.You'll work closely with FPGA and embedded software teams to take algorithms from concept through to hardware-ready implementation.This is a high-impact position within a technically strong, multidisciplinary team, where your work directly influences real-world satellite communication performance.Key ResponsibilitiesDSP Algorithm Development & SimulationDesign, simulate, and optimise DSP algorithms for satellite communication systems using MATLAB/SimulinkDevelop algorithms for filtering, modulation/demodulation, synchronization, channel estimation, and equalisationRun system-level simulations to evaluate performance, robustness, and trade-offs against requirementsStatistical Signal ProcessingDevelop and validate statistical estimation algorithms including:Direction of Arrival (DOA)Signal-to-Noise Ratio (SNR) estimationPower Spectral Density (PSD) and spectrum estimationAnalyse algorithm performance under varying noise, interference, and channel conditionsCross-Functional CollaborationWork closely with FPGA engineers to translate DSP algorithms into hardware-ready specificationsCollaborate with embedded software teams on algorithm integration and interface definitionsSupport architectural decisions through modelling and simulation resultsSystem Validation & DocumentationPerform verification and validation activities through simulation and automated test scriptsProduce clear technical documentation, simulation reports, and algorithm descriptionsSupport continuous improvement of models and testing frameworksRequired Skills & ExperienceMaster's degree in Electronic Engineering, Telecommunications, or a related disciplineStrong hands-on experience with MATLAB/Simulink for DSP and communication system simulationSolid understanding of digital communication principles (modulation schemes, coding, synchronization, filtering)Strong background in statistical signal processing and parameter estimationExperience validating and optimising algorithms against system-level requirementsComfortable working in a multidisciplinary engineering environmentPreferred / Nice to HaveExperience using Python for simulation automation or testingExposure to satellite or RF communication systemsBasic understanding of FPGA or RTL constraints to support hardware implementationFamiliarity with version control tools such as GitExperience with end-to-end system-level simulations for communication platformsWhy JoinHigh-impact work: Your algorithms will directly support real-world satellite applications with global impactTechnical ownership: You'll work on core technology, not peripheral tasksFast professional growth: Join a technically ambitious startup environment backed by major innovation programmesCompetitive package: Above-market salary for the region plus a stock option planWork-life balance: Hybrid working model with flexible hoursIf this role sounds like a good fit, please apply via LinkedIn or contact for a confidential discussion.
