Technical Project Lead – Optical Communications (Space Systems)Location: Vicenza, Italy (Relocation support available)Employment Type: Full-Time | HybridIntroductionThis is an exceptional opportunity for a highly capable Technical Project Lead to take a central role in the development of next-generation optical communication systems for space applications.If you have deep expertise in laser communications, photonics, or advanced optical systems, and enjoy leading multidisciplinary engineering teams, this role offers the chance to shape the future of secure, high-capacity space connectivity.The OpportunityYou will join an advanced engineering organisation working at the forefront of space-based laser communication technologies, delivering cutting-edge solutions for satellite networks, high-throughput data transport, and emerging quantum-secure communication systems.In this role, you will guide the technical execution of major development programmes, coordinate with international technology partners, and ensure that complex optical communication systems are delivered to the highest engineering and aerospace standards.Key ResponsibilitiesLead the technical planning and execution of advanced space communication projectsCoordinate multidisciplinary teams across optics, mechanics, electronics, and softwareTranslate customer requirements into actionable system-level specificationsMaintain close technical alignment with international R&D partnersEnsure compliance with aerospace quality, safety, and reliability standardsIdentify technical risks and define mitigation strategiesPresent technical updates to internal stakeholders and external partnersSupport system integration, testing, and validation activitiesEssential Skills and ExperienceStrong technical background in laser communications, photonics, or optical systemsProven experience as a Technical Lead or Systems Engineer in the space sectorDemonstrated ability to manage complex engineering projects end-to-endExperience coordinating multidisciplinary technical teamsUnderstanding of optical communication terminals, payload development, or high-precision opto-mechanical systemsEducational Background & SkillsBachelor's or Master's degree in Engineering, Physics, Photonics, or related fieldExcellent analytical, communication, and leadership abilitiesAbility to work cross-functionally in a collaborative technical environmentPhD in Photonics, Laser Communications, or a related field is an advantageWhy Apply?This is a rare opportunity to take a lead technical role in a transformative, fast-growing domain within the space industry.You will work on meaningful, high-impact programs with strong long-term vision, hybrid flexibility (3 days / week on-site), and a competitive compensation package.Feel free to send your CV to#J-*****-Ljbffr
