FREELANCE SENIOR JAVA SOFTWARE ENGINEER – LUCRATIVE RATES – REMOTE ITALYFreelance Senior Java Software EngineerLocation:Italy (must be Italy-based)Client:Software Development Company – RomeContract:Freelance / ContractorDuration:6–12 months (high likelihood of extension)Working Model:Fully RemoteHybrid Option:Available if preferred (Rome)Daily Rate: €550 – €750 per dayAbout the RoleOur client are awell-established software development company based in Rome, delivering modern, scalable solutions for Italian and international clients.They are looking for aSenior Java Software Engineer (Freelance)to join one of their core engineering teams on along-term contract.This role suits an experienced freelancer who is comfortable working autonomously, contributing to architectural decisions, and delivering high-quality backend solutions.The position isfully remote, with optional hybrid working in Rome for those who prefer occasional on-site collaboration.Key ResponsibilitiesDesign, develop, and maintainhigh-performance Java applicationsBuild and enhancebackend services, APIs, and microservicesContribute totechnical and architectural decisionsProduce clean, well-structured, and testable codeCollaborate closely with engineers, architects, and product stakeholdersParticipate in code reviews and uphold engineering best practicesDebug, optimise, and improve existing systemsRequired Skills & Experience5+ years' commercial experiencein Java developmentStrong hands-on experience withJava (8+), Spring, Spring BootSolid knowledge ofRESTful APIs, microservices, and distributed systemsExperience working withSQL and relational databasesFamiliarity withGit, CI/CD pipelines, and modern development workflowsComfortable working inremote, agile teamsDemonstrable experience working as a freelancer / contractor(essential)Must bebased in Italyand able to invoice as a freelancerNice to HaveCloud experience (AWS, Azure, or GCP)Docker and KubernetesEvent-driven or messaging-based architecturesExperience working withinternational clientsAgile / Scrum environment exposureLanguage RequirementsEnglish:Professional working proficiency (written and spoken)Italian:Advantageous but not requiredWhat's on OfferHighly competitive daily rate (€550–€750/day)Long-term contract (6–12 months + extension)100% remote working within ItalyOptionalhybrid working in RomeWell-defined projects and consistent workloadCollaborative, senior-level engineering environmentEfficient interview process and fast onboardingInterested?Contact to learn more about this fantastic opportunity
