Research Scientist/Peptide Chemistry UnitJoin to apply for theResearch Scientist/Peptide Chemistry Unitrole atIRBM.The peptide chemistry unit is seeking a talented peptide chemist with a strong background in peptide & macrocycle chemistry, as well as expertise in organic synthesis.The successful candidate will be passionate about conducting high quality scientific research to advance internal and external peptide drug discovery programs.About the RoleThe candidate will be involved in the design of new molecules to progress structure activity relationship studies and in the planning and execution of multi-step syntheses, purification and analytical characterization of complex peptides to achieve agreed upon objectives in a timely manner.The successful candidate will communicate effectively with internal and external collaborators and will work efficiently in a multi-disciplinary team environment.ResponsibilitiesDevelop and execute synthetic strategies towards complex molecules using state-of-the-art synthetic methodologies.Analyze and identify compounds using different purification and spectroscopic techniques.Contribute to the design of peptide with improved potency and physiochemical properties to advance programs according to scientific strategies and goals within a project team setting.Present data and reports on project status at internal and external meetings.Conduct laboratory operations in a safe manner.Exhibit safety awareness and safe work practices; comply with all safety requirements according to Italian laws.QualificationsMaster of Science Degree (Laurea Magistrale) in Chemistry with 5 years of experience doing peptide chemistry in a pharmaceutical or biotech environment.PhD in Chemistry with one or more relevant postdoctoral experiences or with experience in a pharmaceutical or biotech environment.Required SkillsIn/depth knowledge of peptide chemistryExpertise in design and synthesis of complex peptides including peptide conjugates, macrocycles, small proteinsMastery of use of laboratory equipment with a preferential knowledge on the use of peptide synthesizersDesign and execution of synthetic routes for the synthesis of amino acids and building blocksExcellent knowledge of common purification techniques (HPLC, IEX, GPC) and analytical techniques (UPLC/HPLC and mass spectrometry)Experience in the discovery of therapeutic peptides in an industrial environment will be considered a plusKnowledge in structure elucidations of organic molecules by NMR and MSExcellent communication skills, both verbal and writtenGood knowledge of English is mandatoryAbility to productively work in teamsPreferred SkillsExperience in the discovery of therapeutic peptides in an industrial environment will be considered a plusThe position is based in Pomezia (RM).Equal Opportunity StatementIRBM considers all qualified applicants without discrimination, including on the basis of race, gender, age, disability, gender identity or expression, national origin.Seniority level: Mid-Senior level.Employment type: Full-time.Job function: Research.#J-*****-Ljbffr
