About Arsenale BioyardsAt Arsenale, we're at the forefront of a new era in biomanufacturing by making precision fermentation viable at an industrial scale.Our unique end-to-end, software-first platform challenges the status quo by enabling companies to co-design with nature and manufacture at scale at a fraction of the cost.By combining cutting-edge technology with an anti-disciplinary mindset, we drive innovation and shape biomanufacturing's future.The OpportunityArsenale is seeking a highly skilled Fermentation Engineer with a strong background in production microbiology and extensive experience in fermentation systems ranging from pilot to large-scale.The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in equipment design, validation, and operation, particularly in precision fermentation at a large scale.As a Fermentation Engineer, you will be pivotal in implementing and operating Arsenale's proprietary bioreactor systems, working closely with our Head of Engineering, Data & AI team, and third-party collaborators.Shift Pattern : Wednesday-Saturday, 38 hours total.Role PurposeTo implement and operate Arsenale's proprietary bioreactor systems with expertise in production microbiology and large-scale fermentation, driving precision fermentation excellence from pilot to industrial scale.Your ImpactCollaborating closely with equipment vendors to design, procure, install, and operate upstream and downstream fermentation equipment, preparing and executing bioreactor runsMonitoring and supporting end-to-end workflow execution at the pilot scale, ensuring smooth operations and preparing for large-scale production at our demonstration plantFacilitating tech transfers on a large scale by working closely with clients and our R&D team to execute fermentation and downstream processes efficientlyUtilising strong microbiology expertise to troubleshoot and innovate complex systems independently within a fast-paced, cross-functional team environmentApplying working knowledge of Design of Experiments (DOE) frameworks and biostatistical data analysis to optimise fermentation processesDemonstrating proficiency in fermentation control and integration software, contributing to the continuous improvement of our systemsMaintaining excellent communication and collaboration with internal teams, external partners, and clients, ensuring project objectives are met effectively and efficientlyPaying meticulous attention to detail and upholding all operations' highest quality and safety standardsEssential CapabilitiesBachelor's or Master's degree in Chemical Engineering, Bioengineering, Microbiology, or a related fieldRelevant experience in production engineering focusing on microbial fermentation systems, including bench to pilot scaleExtensive hands-on experience in precision fermentation between 5 and 50,000 litresExperience in yeast fermentation and supporting downstream is a strong plusProficiency in English, both verbal and writtenStrong interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively in a collaborative team environmentFamiliarity with fermentation control and integration software is highly desirableExcellent organisational skills and ability to manage multiple projects simultaneouslySelf-motivated and proactive with a passion for innovation and problem-solvingAdaptive QualitiesCross-functional collaboration mindset comfortable working closely with Head of Engineering, Data & AI teams, and third-party collaborators in complex project environmentsInnovation-driven approach capable of troubleshooting and innovating complex systems independently within fast-paced environmentsTechnical transfer expertise skilled in facilitating large-scale tech transfers while working effectively with clients and R&D teamsQuality-focused mentality maintaining meticulous attention to detail and upholding the highest quality and safety standards in all operations#J-*****-Ljbffr
