Mandarin Oriental, Lago di Como aims to become one of the most exclusive resorts in Europe, representing the true elegant Italian but understated luxury experience for a worldwide Clientele.Our vision is to promote our welcoming, genuine and passionate culture to attract and engage exceptional talents, under the guidance of enthusiastic leaders.Our aim is to get the best out of each individual and being recognized as an employer of choice among the most exclusive hotels in the world.CHIEF ENGINEERPosition SummaryThe Chief Engineer supports the Engineering Manager in ensuring the effective, safe, and smooth operation of the Engineering department.This role serves as a key point of coordination for day-to-day maintenance operations, staff supervision, and compliance with safety standards.The Chief Engineer acts as second-in-command, stepping in during the Manager's absence and serving as a reference point for the team of Engineering Supervisors.Duties and ResponsibilitiesAssist the Engineering Manager in overseeing all operations of the Engineering department.Supervise and support Engineering Supervisors and technicians in daily tasks and preventive maintenance plans.Coordinate technical interventions across all areas of the resort, ensuring quality and timeliness.Collaborate in budget monitoring and cost control, particularly for maintenance operations and energy consumption.Liaise with external contractors and consultants during maintenance projects and upgrades.Monitor compliance with health, safety, and fire prevention regulations, supporting internal audits and corrective actions.Maintain up-to-date documentation on systems, procedures, and equipment maintenance.Lead or assist in training, evaluating, and motivating the engineering team to ensure high performance and professional development.Implement MOHG standards and policies across all maintenance activities.Participate in the planning and scheduling of maintenance interventions in guest rooms, public areas, and back-of-house.Provide regular updates to the Engineering Manager on technical issues, resource needs, and ongoing projects.Contribute to long-term improvement plans for energy saving and sustainable facility management.RequirementsMinimum 3–5 years of experience in a supervisory or mid-level engineering role, ideally within a luxury hospitality setting.Degree or diploma in Engineering, Technical Services, or a related field.Strong technical knowledge in mechanical, electrical, and civil systems.Working knowledge of Health & Safety and Fire Prevention regulations.Good understanding of budget control and energy-saving practices.Excellent organizational and problem-solving skills.Proficient in written and spoken English and Italian.Leadership-oriented mindset with a collaborative, hands-on approach.Flexible, reliable, and capable of managing stress and priorities.We believe a diverse and inclusive culture is better for everyone.Bringing individuals together is essential to the long-term success of our people, our business and the societies and economies in which we operate.All colleagues, regardless of ethnicity, gender, age, sexual orientation, disability, background or religion, should be treated fairly and with respect, should be given equal opportunities, and be valued for the contributions they make in their roles.No form of bullying, intimidation, discrimination or harassment of others will be tolerated.#J-*****-Ljbffr
