Optical Design EngineerLocation: Saronno, ITOpportunityEvery day, surgeons rely on high-precision visuals to perform procedures with confidence and accuracy.At Barco, we design cutting-edge surgical displays that deliver outstanding brightness, contrast, and color fidelity—because in the operating room, image quality can be the difference between a successful intervention and a preventable complication.We're looking for aOptical Engineerto help us push the boundaries of display performance and expand into new medical and industrial applications.Key ResponsibilityTranslate clinical and industry needs into optical system requirementsIdentify and evaluate advanced optical technologies and componentsDesign and execute experiments to assess display performanceDevelop calibration methods and real-time optimization systemsLead optical validation to meet regulatory and industry standardsLead the development of new 3D and visualization systemsCollaborate closely with suppliers to implement innovative solutionsEvaluate, introduce, and test new display panels and protective technologies to ensure optimal performance and durability in surgical environmentsSkillsWe are looking for a motivated and technically skilled professional to contribute to the development of advanced optical systems for surgical displays.The ideal candidate combines a solid engineering background with a proactive and structured approach, and is capable of driving innovation through cross-functional collaboration and supplier engagement.This role requires fluency in English and availability for international travel.MSc in Optical Engineering, Photonics, or equivalent professional experienceExperience in optical system design, ideally within imaging or display technologiesSolid knowledge of automation and programmingHands-on, analytical, and structured approach to problem-solvingStrong communication skills and ability to collaborate across disciplines and with suppliersPassionate about innovation, with a high sense of ownership and initiativeFluent in Italian and English and willing to travelOfferBecoming part of the excitement of the Barco Surgical and Modality Display team.A variety of in-house training courses at our Barco University so you can continuously grow & learn as a professional.Possibility to work with international experts in Barco.The opportunity to work for an international market leader where innovation matters.A competitive salary package.???
