empowers you to own them to completion.Amazon is seeking a self-starter to join the AWS Energy team in pioneering the future for data center utility power by developing and executing the strategy by which AWS delivers energy projects and partners with electric utilities and energy companies across the Americas.This individual will define the end to end (generation, transmission, distribution, backup power) power strategy for scaling and operating AWS' diverse, low-cost energy supply.In this role, you will manage multiple, large-scale and technically complex power infrastructure projects across multiple geographies by facilitating close collaboration between internal and external stakeholders.You will be resilient in exploring new supply opportunities that deliver near-term capacity with an accelerated path to net-zero carbon supply, convert them into executable projects, and reduce energy capital and operating expenses.Internally, you will report status, risks, mitigations and successes to C-level and VP-level leadership, influencing cross-functional partner teams.Externally, you will manage utility interactions, coordinate real-estate, engineering and planning efforts for site evaluation, project engineering, scheduling and budgeting, and contract with utilities, EPCs, or Owner's Engineers to meet AWS' needs.You will work in an integrated team to implement a strategy that meets and exceeds AWS' energy program requirements while delivering projects on time with reliability and cost savings.Key job responsibilitiesLead the development and execution of a comprehensive utilities strategy for AWS data centers for AMER regions.Manage multiple Utilities, EPC and Owner's Engineers to deliver MV and HV power infrastructure, including negotiations and contracting.Develop and execute energy strategies that leverage capital projects (utility grid connections, high-voltage substations, energy storage, etc.) to reduce long-term energy costs and manage capital budgets for electrical infrastructure and energy projects.Work collaboratively with Amazon CFE/RE team to support the development of strategic energy sourcing opportunities.Execute electricity supply contracts that create new clean energy capacity on the grid (through utilities), reduce cost, minimize risk and leverage opportunities that benefit Amazon.Manage a portfolio of complex energy projects.Collaborate with internal teams and regulated utilities on the implementation and management of energy projects to meet business timelines.Identify and develop innovative cost-saving projects (capital and operational) and initiatives related to energy infrastructure and supply.Complete due diligence on in-market opportunities and develop those opportunities into cost savings for the business.Work with utility regulators to develop policies and guidelines that enable broader AWS strategies and objectives.About the teamThink like a group CEO of generation, transmission, things differently.Basic QualificationsBachelor's Degree (BA/BS) required in Engineering/Business or other technical field.7+ years working in utility/energy industry in a commercial/business development or technical role.3+ years of power transaction or contracting experience in US (e.g. PJM & MISO) energy markets, performing financial models and analysis on rates and energy cost, negotiating interconnection agreements and related contracts with utilities and contractors.2+ years managing multiple million-dollar power infrastructure contracts with external stakeholders to drive projects to completion.Preferred QualificationsMaster's Degree (MBA) preferred.Ability to manage multiple simultaneous projects requiring frequent communication, organization, time management, and problem-solving skills.Experience planning, engineering, developing or constructing substations or other =34.5 kV energy infrastructure.Experience evaluating and implementing innovative infrastructure and operational strategies within the energy sector, such as energy storage, demand response, fuel cells, etc.Experience working directly with public utility commissions and other energy
