Exciting opportunity with Meril Life SciencesAbout Meril Life SciencesMeril Life Sciences is the leading medical devices company in India, with a growing international presence, especially in Europe.Meril is committed to delivering high-quality, accessible medical devices that have a tangible global impact.Intellectual property is a core strategic function at Meril, directly supporting long-term innovation, product differentiation, and business growth.European Patent Attorney (Mid-Level, In-House IP Team)Location: Italy or Germany (Remote)The PositionMeril Life Sciences is seeking a mid-level European Patent Attorney (5–7 years' experience) to join its in-house Intellectual Property team.The role offers substantial responsibility across the full patent lifecycle, with a particular focus on portfolio management, prior art searches and analysis, EPO prosecution and oppositions, litigation support (both national level in Europe and UPC).The position may be based in Italy, Germany, or fully remote , while remaining fully integrated into an international in-house IP organization.Key ResponsibilitiesDraft high-quality European and international patent applications, primarily in the mechanical and medical device fieldsManage and conduct patent prosecution before the EPO , including examination strategy and portfolio alignment Actively handle and support EPO opposition and appeal proceedings , including coordination with external counsel and preparation of technical and legal submissions Coordinate, instruct, and supervise external patent attorneys and law firms across multiple jurisdictionsConduct and oversee Freedom-to-Operate (FTO) searches and analyses , including risk assessment and clear reporting to internal stakeholders Contribute to strategic patent portfolio management , including filing strategies, portfolio optimization, and lifecycle management Support IP litigation activities , including national and UPC litigation and enforcement actions, in close cooperation with external counsel Work closely with R& D, engineering, regulatory, and business teams to identify inventions and develop robust, defensible IP strategiesProvide clear, pragmatic, and business-focused IP advice to internal stakeholders Required Qualifications and Experience Fully qualified European Patent Attorney (EQE qualification is mandatory) 5–7 years of professional experience in patent drafting, prosecution, and portfolio management either in house or in the private practice Educational background in Mechanical Engineering.Experience with medical devices and adjacent technical fields is advantageous Demonstrated EPO experience , including hands-on involvement in examination, opposition, and appeal proceedings Proven exposure to contentious IP matters , including EPO oppositions and/or national/UPC litigation in Europe Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills, with a structured and solution-oriented approach Language RequirementsFluent English (professional proficiency required)German language skills are an advantage What Meril Life Sciences OffersAn opportunity to join one of the world's most dynamic and fast-growing medical device companiesA strategically important in-house role with direct involvement in high-value innovation and product development, closely tied to top management decisionsSignificant exposure to EPO patent work , including complex opposition and appeal proceedings Flexible working arrangements, including full remote optionsA professional, collaborative environment that values technical excellence, accountability, and long-term development This position is ideally suited for a mid-level European Patent Attorney seeking a technically rigorous in-house role within a company that places intellectual property at the center of its innovation strategy.Interested candidate please share their resume on andThank you.
