SYSTEM ADMINISTRATOR — LONG TERM FREELANCE — MILANCollaboration Type: Long Term Freelance (6–12 months + extension)Seniority: Senior (minimum 4+ years' experience)Location: Hybrid – Milan (2–3 days / week on-site)Language Requirement: English & ItalianRate: €200 / dayRole OverviewWe are looking for a System Administrator with strong hands-on and design experience to join a global tech company.The role is dual :Operational : Serve as application owner for key infrastructure systems (e.g., VMware clusters, SAN storage, Azure SaaS services), managing daily operations and performance.Architectural / Project Support : Act as the technical contact for infrastructure projects, supporting PMs and contributing to architecture design and solution delivery.The ideal candidate is proactive, autonomous, and capable of balancing operational responsibilities with strategic infrastructure design in a complex, multinational environment.ResponsibilitiesDesign, implement, and optimise scalable, secure, and high-performance IT infrastructure solutions (on-premises, cloud, and hybrid).Act as application owner for selected infrastructure systems, ensuring operational reliability and compliance.Manage and maintain VMware clusters, SAN / storage environments, cloud services (Azure / AWS), and hybrid server farms.Support and lead IT infrastructure projects, collaborating with PMs and cross-functional teams.Develop and maintain IT architecture roadmaps aligned with business objectives and industry best practices.Monitor and optimise system performance, availability, and capacity.Evaluate emerging technologies and recommend improvements for scalability, reliability, and cost efficiency.Ensure compliance with IT security policies and support proactive risk mitigation.RequirementsBachelor's degree in Computer Science, IT, or related field (MD preferred).Minimum 4 years' experience in IT infrastructure design, implementation, and management in multinational companies.Fluency in English and Italian.Strong experience with cloud platforms (Azure, AWS), virtualization (VMware, Hyper-V), and containerization (OpenShift).Expertise in networking, storage, server technologies, and hybrid server farms.Experience with cloud services (e.g., Azure Functions, Power Automate, Fabric).Knowledge of main operating systems (Windows, Linux) and databases (MSSQL, MySQL, Oracle).Proficiency in automation and scripting (PowerShell, Python).Solid understanding of ITIL practices and frameworks.Proven ability to manage complex IT projects and cross-functional teams.Nice to HaveExperience designing both custom and out-of-the-box infrastructure solutions.Exposure to advanced cloud architectures and SaaS optimisations.Commitment to continuous learning and professional development.Please contact to learn more about this amazing opportunity#J-*****-Ljbffr
