Job Description Contingent upon Contract Award.The General Surgical Officer is responsible for the preoperative, operative, and postoperative care of patients at DOS/DOD clinics.The officer will supervise and collaborate with other healthcare professionals to ensure comprehensive patient management.The incumbent will perform life-saving surgery for a full range of general emergency surgical cases, including vascular, neurologic, and orthopedic, as well as full-range general surgical cases, including abdominal, urologic, vascular, and soft-tissue.This position is based in Israel.Key ResponsibilitiesLead the surgical team and conduct thorough preoperative assessments, including reviewing medical histories, physical examinations, and diagnostic tests to determine the need for surgical intervention.Perform a variety of surgical procedures, such as appendectomies, hernia repairs, bowel resections, and more, using appropriate techniques and ensuring patient safety.Monitor patients during recovery, addressing complications, and providing follow-up care instructions to promote healing and complications.Educate patients and their families about surgical procedures, potential risks, and postoperative care requirements.Work closely with anesthesiologists, nurses, and other medical professionals to coordinate surgical care and ensure optimal outcomes.Maintain accurate medical records, including operation notes and patient progress reports, in compliance with regulatory standards.Complete required organizational compliance education, including assigned requirements that are client-specified, for Joint Commission Healthcare Staffing Services certification or other regulatory bodies.This list is non-exhaustive, and the role holder may be required to undertake additional duties that are not specifically listed above.QualificationsBasic Requirements/CertificationsU.S. board-certified or recently ABS qualified General Surgeon or approved equivalent.Full unrestricted U.S. licensure from any state, territory, or commonwealth (i.e., Puerto Rico) of the United States, the District of Columbia, or a country of record equivalent to provide medical care within scope of practice.Current ATLS is required; recent completion of Tactical Combat Casualty Care or comparable advanced trauma course featuring "live tissue," or exceptional simulation training is desirable.Country of record equivalents will count for requirements.Certified in Basic Life Support (BLS), Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) or equivalency.Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and Electronic Medical Records (EMR).Minimum 5 years' recent experience including 6 months within the last year.Experience on a military site working as a government subcontractor or prime contractor is preferred.Education RequiredMD or DO is required.This degree must have been accredited by the Council on Medical Education of the American Medical Association; Association of American Medical Colleges: Liaison Committee on Medical Education or an accrediting body recognized by the U.S. Department of Education or country of record equivalent at the time the degree was obtained.Physical RequirementsMust meet pre-deployment physical requirements.Work involves sitting and standing for prolonged periods of time.May require bending, stooping and lifting to 25 lbs.Other Special QualificationsValid passport from country of record with at least 18 months before expiration date.Must maintain a current passport during your stay in Israel.Ability to obtain and maintain a required security clearance.Applicants with current clearances are preferred.Must be able to relocate to Israel for the duration of the project.Must be able to read, write and speak English to effectively communicate.Additional InformationPay range is based on several factors and may vary in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits.Final salary and offer will be determined by the applicant's background, experience, skills, internal equity, and alignment with geographical market data.Benefits – Full-time positions are eligible for our comprehensive and competitive benefits package including medical, dental, vision, and basic life insurance.Additional benefits include a 401(k) plan, paid time off and an annual bonus.International SOS Government Medical Services, Inc. complies with all federal, state and local minimum wage laws.International SOS Government Medical Services, Inc. is an equal opportunity employer and does not discriminate against employees or job applicants on the basis of race, color, religion, gender, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, age, disability, genetic information, marital status, or veteran status in accordance with the applicable federal, state and local laws.#J-*****-Ljbffr
