Join to apply for theBUILDING MAINTENANCE SPECIALISTrole atState of ArizonaARIZONA DEPARTMENT OF CORRECTIONSREHABILITATION & REENTRYOur mission is to enhance public safety across Arizona through modern, effective correctional practices and meaningful engagements.The Arizona Department of Corrections, Rehabilitation and Reentry (ADCRR) is committed to creating a safe, secure, and humane correctional system.With public safety top of mind, ADCRR and its more than 8,000 officers and professional staff are driven by a heart for public service and a commitment to deliver perfect effort each day.ADCRR is redefining itself as an agency whose daily work centers on transparency, accountability, and fairness.Job SummaryTheArizona Department of Corrections, Rehabilitation & Reentry (ADCRR)is hiring aBuilding Maintenance Specialistat the Arizona State Prison Complex – Eyman.This is a hands-on role for someone skilled in general maintenance, covering repairs for plumbing, electrical, HVAC, and kitchen equipment.You'll help keep our facilities running smoothly by planning and completing projects, supervising inmate work crews, and ensuring all equipment and tools are in top condition.If you're dependable, experienced, and ready to take on a rewarding challenge in a supportive environment, we want to hear from youJob DutiesSchedules and plans maintenance-related projects to include pricing, material list, equipment, and needsCompletes related documentation as required by policy and as directed by supervisorBasic knowledge of office equipment to include computers, internet research, and completion of documentsInspects and maintains tools and equipment to ensure proper working order and all are accounted forSupervises and evaluates inmate workers' performanceAttends staff meetings and training as required, and performs other duties appropriate to the assignmentDrives on State businessPerforms other duties appropriate to the assignmentKnowledge, Skills & Abilities (KSAs)Structural issues regarding building and utility service systems, including blueprints, safety practices, and codesAll trades include electrical, electronic, plumbing, HVAC, carpentry, general facility maintenance, preventive maintenance, etc.Budgeting to include estimating costs and ordering materialsCommon and specialized tools and equipment for performing dutiesOccupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) guidelines and national and local building codes/regulationsSkill SetBasic reading of blueprints, schematics, and general constructionMechanical devices, electrical, preventative maintenanceUsing and demonstrating the use of common and specialist toolsWritten and verbal communicationBuilding and maintaining interpersonal relationshipsAbility ToLift/Carry 50lbsPush/Pull 50lbsWalk/Run 0.25 milesWork in a prison environmentSupervise inmate work crewsLearn and adhere to ADCRR policies and proceduresSelective Preference(s)On-the-job training as a technical or generalized maintenance staff personTechnical educationSpecialized trade schools and unionsPre-Employment RequirementsEmployment is contingent on the selected applicant passing a background investigation, drug test, and a medical/physical examination.If this position requires driving or the use of a vehicle as an essential function of the job, then the following requirements apply.Any employee operating a motor vehicle on State business must possess and retain a current, valid class-appropriate driver's license, complete all required training, and successfully pass all necessary driver's license record checks.The license must be current, unexpired, and neither revoked nor suspended.Employees who drive on state business are subject to driver's license record checks, must maintain acceptable driving records, and must complete all required driver training.An employee who operates a personally owned vehicle on state business shall maintain the statutorily required liability insurance (see Arizona Administrative Code (A.A.C.)
