This is where you can do your best work.Join us at the intersection of saving and sustaining lives—where your purpose accelerates our mission.SummaryThe Role is responsible for assessing and managing Corporate Responsibility / Sustainability compliance needs, including compliance with existing, emerging and new sustainability legislation, covering the areas of extended producer responsibility (EPR) and product sustainability. They will focus primarily on the EMEA region, expanding to a global scope as EPR and product sustainability needs expand geographically.They will interact with global product owners, legal, IT / data management, R&D and manufacturing to ensure compliance with product and packaging sustainability requirements, and provide support to countries and business segments to ensure compliance requirements associated with regional and country level regulations can be met to ensure market access.This role will oversee the administration and execution of EPR (extended producer responsibility) : Packaging, WEEE, Batteries, and other country level sustainability reporting needs such as energy / carbon reporting requirements. This person will support internal and external stakeholders to understand the requirements in detail and strategic direction of regulations, helping to shape them where appropriate. The individual in this role should be comfortable working with EU legislation and external organizations such as Medtech Europe and European. This requires the interpretation of complex technical information and to be able to communicate with a broad range of stakeholders and drive compliance through influence.Data and Compliance Reporting ManagementOversee the collection of required product and packaging data and the systems Baxter use in order to meet extended producer responsibility compliance requirements on Packaging, WEEE, Batteries and other initiatives as required.Oversee the reporting activities associated with the above across all countries where a requirement exists.Ensure all necessary reporting is taking place on time and in full by designated reporting staff or organization responsible.Support external country / cluster level extended producer responsibility audits and inspection visits. Work with site, country leads or product owners until findings are closed out.Support the requirements associated with extended producer responsibility through business acquisitions, mergers and spin-offs.Work to integrate product stewardship and extended producer responsibility governance into EHSS such that all those functions impacted follow clear process and have ownership of all producer responsibility related tasks.Ensure relevant information on extended producer responsibility is made available to customers in line with all relevant EMEA and local laws.Compliance tracking, assessment and governanceWork with EHS, Legal and Market Access to identify, monitor and track new relevant legislation globally and participate in impact assessment with relevant functions.Work with EHSS Chemical Governance staff where there is crossover between chemical and EPR legislation.Participate in all relevant Medtech Europe Groups covering forthcoming EPR, Packaging, Circular Economy and EcoDesign legislation.Work with other CEHSS team members and other business functions as needed to ensure the impacts of EPR compliance are understood and integrated into suitable governance mechanisms.Ensure EPR requirements are included in CEHSS audits, establishing a system of checks around internal compliance with requirements.Goal Setting and Continuous ImprovementHelp develop product and packaging goals that drive continuous improvement e.g. packaging material guidelines for R&D, manufacturing and transport and logistics functions.Monitor best practices in circular economy, packaging, take-back and other EPR programmes to ensure Baxter continues to meet customer and regulatory expectations in this space.Conduct training for internal staff as needed.Qualifications, Skills and ExperiencePrimary (First) degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Management, Environmental Engineering, Chemistry, or other area related to Environment, Health and Safety or Sustainability (Master's degree is desirable).Willing to undertake up to 10% regional travel and occasional global travel.Fluent written and spoken English skills and local language as needed.Experience (5+ yrs) in Sustainability / Corporate Responsibility.Experience within medical devices or pharma industry is preferable, but food and drink / electronics or other sectors impacted by EPR also considered.Have experience working at a management level.Must be able to lead and shape action via influence at all levels, across functions.Understanding and appreciation of the cultural differences of working with people across a range of EMEA countries.Experience of representing a company at cross industry forums, including diplomacy in handling NGO's and competitors will be an asset.Knowledge of EU policy and legislation in the environmental and product stewardship areas, and an understanding of the EU decision making processes is desirable.#J-*****-Ljbffr
