Construction Safety Engineer

RINA is currently recruiting for a Construction Safety Engineer to join its office in Genoa or Naples or Milan, Italy within the Civil Engineering Division. Mission The role focuses on ensuring the safety of construction operations in the infrastructure environment (e.g., construction site safety processes, procedures, equipment, workers, etc.) in cooperation with the Principal Engineer. Key Accountabilities Identify, assess and mitigate safety construction risks, ensuring that all projects comply with relevant safety regulations and industry standards. Ensure that all construction activities comply with the applicable local, state, and/or federal safety regulations, as well as company safety policies and procedures. Conduct regular site inspections to identify potential hazards, unsafe practices, and unsafe conditions; develop and drive the implementation of corrective actions as needed, to assure compliance with safety and health program requirements; prepare technical reports of inspection findings; and develop corrective actions. Assist in the development of project-specific safety plans, risk assessments, and method statements. Conduct thorough investigations of accidents and near misses, report findings, and recommend preventive measures to avoid recurrence. Verify safety training for construction personnel, subcontractors, and other stakeholders as required. Verify or develop emergency response plans for each construction site, ensuring that all personnel are aware of procedures. Perform or verify risk assessments for various construction activities and propose control measures to mitigate potential risks. Verify the proper use, maintenance, and availability of safety equipment and personal protective gear. Provide direct day-to-day support and oversight of project elements. Team-work and assist engineers or engineering teams on construction sites. Develop project schedules and deliverable timelines under the supervision of more experienced engineers. Prepare or verify technical deliverables (technical reports, Health Safety Plan, Safety and Coordination Plan, project performance documentation, engineering drawings, etc.). Prepare progress technical reports. Be aware and understand the Quality Policy and ensure that all assigned activities are executed in accordance with the RINA QMS. Education Bachelor's Degree in Construction and Environment or Civil Engineering. Qualifications Proven experience in construction safety management, with a track record of identifying, assessing, and mitigating safety risks on construction sites; experience in developing and implementing safety programs and conducting safety training is required. Thorough understanding of relevant safety regulations and industry standards such as OSHA, ANSI, NFPA, etc.; strong knowledge of construction processes, methods, and equipment; familiarity with risk assessment methodologies and emergency response procedures is essential.
