Senior DevOps Engineer - Italy (Ispra)Ispra, Italy - Hybrid (2 days on-site per week) Salary: ~35,000 € SBA Long-term project | EU Institution environment English requiredAbout the RoleWe are looking for a highly experiencedSenior DevOps Engineerto join a long-term project within a European research and innovation environment.You will work on-site in Ispra (2 days per week) and support a wide ecosystem of tools, infrastructure, and DevOps processes.This role is ideal for someone with strong hands-on technical expertise and solid experience in automation, CI/CD, Linux systems, and containerized environments.Key ResponsibilitiesManage and maintainGitLab CI/CDservers and pipelines.Oversee containerized environments usingDockerandSwarm clusters .Develop automation workflows usingAnsible .Administer and troubleshootUbuntu LTSLinux systems.ManagePostgreSQLdatabases, includingBarman backup , restore procedures, and master-slave configuration.Ensure properbackup and recovery policiesacross systems.Provideend-user supportfor day-to-day operational issues.Collaborate with the team to ensure infrastructure reliability, scalability, and security.Apply strong networking knowledge in daily activities.RequirementsMaster's degree + 11 years of experience , ORBachelor's degree + 15 years of experienceStrong experience in: GitLab CI/CD (server management)Docker & container orchestration (Swarm)Ansible automationLinux systems (Ubuntu LTS)PostgreSQL, Barman backup, master-slave replicationBackup/restore policiesNetworking fundamentalsAbility to work on-site in Ispra2 days/weekFluent inEnglish(written and spoken)About the ProjectYou will be working on-site at a majorEU research centre , contributing to projects related to scientific innovation, sustainability, energy, and geospatial data.The environment is international, collaborative, and focused on high-impact research supporting EU policies.About E-FrontiersAtE-Frontiers , we specialise in connecting top technical and engineering talent with leading organisations across Europe.We work closely and transparently with both clients and candidates, ensuring clear communication, agile processes, and an excellent experience throughout the recruitment journey.Our goal is to help you find roles that truly match your skills and aspirations while supporting you at every stage of the process.
