COMPANY DESCRIPTION CIM (Competence Industry Manufacturing) – CIM – is one of the eight nationally recognized competence centers with high specialization, promoted by the Ministry of Economic Development (MISE), now the Ministry of Enterprises and Made in Italy.It is recognized as a center of excellence in the digital transformation of companies, focusing on the dissemination of Industry 5.0 technologies and skills.Established by the Polytechnic and the University of Turin, supported as founding members by 21 major Italian and international private companies, and qualified by key industrial players as activity partners, CIM assists companies in their journey towards technological, process, and product maturity, increasing their digital and sustainable competitiveness.CIM's Advanced Robotics Programwill drive the adoption of advanced robotics by empowering organizations to accelerate digital transformation, enhance competitiveness, and achieve seamless human-machine collaboration.The program aims to make robots more accessible, adaptable, and impactful in real-world applications.The main market segments are manufacturing, agriculture, food and logistics.The new Advanced Robotics programaddresses the next generation of robotic systems that combine sophisticated hardware with intelligent software to perform complex tasks autonomously, safely, and adaptively in dynamic and unstructured environments.These robots are capable of perception, learning, decision-making, and physical interaction, often in collaboration with humans and / or other robots.POSITION SUMMARY The selected candidate will actively contribute to developing and shaping CIM's Advanced Robotics Program, from prototyping to robotics ecosystem collaboration.The Advanced Robotics Specialist, aligned with the program's vision, will focus on developing technologies for one of the following robot categories1) Mobile Manipulators,2) Aerial Vehicles, and/or3) Humanoids.The specialist's domain will be defined based on technical background, experience, preferences, and project priorities.Key Responsibilities: Design and implement open, modular robot systems using ROS2 and interoperable software architectures.Develop and optimize autonomous navigation frameworks using ROS2, including SLAM, path planning, and obstacle avoidance.Integrate cutting-edge platforms (e.g., NVIDIA Jetson, Isaac Sim, Google AI tools) into real-time robotic control and perception systems.Prototype and scale Robot-as-a-Service (RaaS) solutions, focusing on reliability, remote operation, and fleet management.Contribute to research and innovation projects: author technical reports, contribute to scientific publications, and represent CIM in national/international research consortia.Lead and participate in applied research on advanced robotics topics including context awareness, multi-modal perception, and adaptive control.Collaborate with CIM's multi-disciplinary teams (Additive Manufacturing, Digital Factory, Innovation, Training).Support training activities and internal knowledge transfer as robotics competencies grow across CIM.Requirements / Qualifications: Master's Degree in Mechatronics, Robotics, Computer Science, or related field.Experience with ROS2, Gazebo, NVIDIA Isaac Sim, C/C++, Python, Matlab/Simulink.Strong knowledge of robot kinematics, control algorithms, navigation algorithms (e.g. SLAM, visual odometry, map-based localization), data fusion algorithms (e.g. EKF), autonomous systems.Familiarity with AI for robotics perception or decision-making.Excellent problem-solving and teamwork skills.Ability to work independently and troubleshoot issues systematically.Willingness to always learn.Proficiency in Italian and English is required; knowledge of other languages is a plus.Benefits or What We Offer: Access to cutting-edge labs and equipment.Innovation-driven, interdisciplinary and young talented environment.Collaboration with academia and industry leaders.Mentorship, opportunities for professional growth, and continuous upskilling and reskilling.Flexibility (e.g., hybrid/remote policy).EXPERIENCE: 4 – 8 years LOCATION: Turin, ItalyCIM supporta la diversità delle persone in tutte le sue forme e si impegna a creare un luogo di lavoro inclusivo e diversificato, in cui ogni singola persona sia valorizzata e incoraggiata a sviluppare le proprie competenze.Forniamo pari opportunità di lavoro e ci impegniamo a creare un ambiente in cui tutti si sentano rispettati e al sicuro da discriminazioni o molestie di qualsiasi tipo.CIM valuterà tutte le candidature in base ai relativi meriti e competenze e alla corrispondenza con la posizione.L'offerta di lavoro è rivolta ai candidati di tutti i sessi (L.******) e generi.
