Senior & Junior Firmware Engineer – Space Systems Turin, Italy | English-speaking role | Start date: Feb-May ****Space assets are vastly underused — commercial payloads on small satellites operate less than 20% of the time due to power and bus limitations. We're developing the next generation of components that enable continuous payload operations and full monetization of space assets.Cosmic Careers is searching for a Senior and Junior Firmware Engineer with a hands-on approach and the confidence to work directly with hardware and developing prototype firmware. The role involves the development and prototyping of avionics systems for space applications and associated ground equipment, with a primary focus on software and firmware development.Your missionBare-metal microcontroller programming in C++Active participation in system-level decision-makingPrototyping and designing of firmware for avionic space systemsDeveloping and conducting tests for the validation and flight qualification of our productsPlanning and execution of engineering and qualification tests of the embedded systems of our productsWhat you bringElectronics, embedded software, mechatronics, automation, robotics, or similar engineering backgroundDemonstrated professional experience in autonomous design of firmware for microcontroller-based systemsDemonstrated professional experience in developing and automating test codeExcellent skills in modern C++ and good OOP practicesAdvanced knowledge of any typical embedded-system communication interfaces such as RS232, RS485, SPI, I2 C, CAN, EthernetFluent in reading electronic schematicsFluent use of git, CMakeVery good skills in using laboratory equipment for debugging (e.g., oscilloscope)Ability to work independentlyResilience and ability to work in a fast-paced environmentComfortable use of English (speaking and writing)Legal authorization to work in the ItalyWhat we offerGoal-driven environment with flexible hours and occasional remote workInternational, passionate team with regular activities and retreatsBuoni pasto and other perks Hands-on experience designing, manufacturing, and testing space-grade systemsReal impact in a European New Space startupHiring process15-min screening call with HRTake-home exercise (if applicable)Technical interview with the engineering teamBehavioural interview with the CEOWelcome onboardWe're dedicated to building a diverse, inclusive and authentic workplace, so if you're excited about this role but your past experience doesn't align perfectly with every qualification, we encourage you to apply anyway.
