As a Pre-construction Manager you will be part of the Design and Construction team (D&C) within Amazon Global Engineering services (GES), with the long-term vision of shaping the future of the Construction Industry. The role will be based in Istanbul, Turkey with *****% of time traveling either domestically or to other EMEA countries. Key job responsibilities Act as an Engineering Subject Matter Expert (SME) in the field of MEP with an emphasis on mechanical design of commercial and industrial buildings. Independently manage complex, cross-functional industrial projects from site selection through design completion, permitting and contract execution, coordinating with design teams and project stakeholders to contribute to the performance of the team, building trust and respect in all working relationships. Keep the scope under control and accelerate progress by driving crisp and timely decisions, identifying and clearing blockers, and escalating appropriately. Work with internal/external stakeholders to drive results through communicating, weighing risks, clearing blockers, leading and influencing decisions. Oversee professional service providers ensuring their skills and competencies meet the needs required of entitling property and projects. Perform pricing reviews for scope inclusions/exclusions and negotiate the cost of the work with developers, general contractors and design consultants. Manage cost, due diligence, delivery program and identify risks related to successful delivery of projects. Support construction team and, if needed, manage construction activities. Supervise the implementation and management of Amazon's safety programs and standards. Negotiate with contractors, vendors and suppliers throughout the lifecycle of the project. A day in the life Each day you will represent Amazon and D&C GES in ensuring the successful delivery of Amazon construction projects, while strategically improving its processes, H&S, and sustainability performance. You will be leading and mentoring large cross-functional teams as an expert resource to complete construction projects. You will be the Subject Matter Expert in your engineering field providing clear guidance in regards to technical solutions, their cost impact and risk imposed on the project's safety and delivery. Daily tasks may comprise of site validation, due diligence, risk analysis, design management, contract and cost negotiations, stakeholder management. Great communication skills to front line and executive level managers will be a must. We build trust with our Customer, making ambitious but realistic commitments. Basic Qualifications 7 years of project management, real estate development, architecture/design experience. Bachelor's degree. Mechanical or Structural Design Experience preferably within Turkey, Middle East and Africa Regions. Managed large scale / multi-disciplinary projects. Has experience managing multilevel stakeholder groups during the lifecycle of a project. Preferred Qualifications Proficiency in French, Polish, Arabic, Portuguese, Turkish, Afrikaans and Zulu are considered preferred qualifications.
