Data Scientist II, AWS Managed Operations Data Science (MODS)Amazon Web Services (AWS) is the world leader in providing a highly reliable, scalable, low-cost infrastructure platform in the cloud that powers hundreds of thousands of businesses in 190 countries.The AWS Managed Operations (MO) organization, founded in April ****, reduces operational load and toil through long-term engineering projects that improve the availability, reliability, latency, performance and efficiency of AWS regions.OverviewThe MODS Team seeks a Full-Stack Data Scientist to lead research and thought leadership that drives AWS's data and insight strategy.You will own the end-to-end data science lifecycle—data exploration, ETL, model development, and data visualization—using Spark, Airflow, Hugging Face, and other ML frameworks.Your work will inform AWS operations and Site Reliability Engineering teams, addressing ambiguous and complex problems at scale.Key ResponsibilitiesWork with large and complex data sets to solve a wide array of challenging problems using diverse analytical approaches.Develop and productionalize ML/AI models in partnership with software teams.Design and implement data pipelines and build supporting infrastructure.Define, develop, and monitor advanced, customized metrics and KPIs that capture organizational objectives and operational complexities.Basic Qualifications3+ years of data science experience.3+ years of experience with data querying languages (SQL), scripting languages (Python), or statistical/mathematical software (R, SAS, Matlab, etc.).3+ years of experience using machine learning/statistical modeling and data analysis tools and techniques.Knowledge of relevant statistical measures such as confidence intervals, significance testing, and evaluation datasets.Bachelor's degree in computer science, mathematics, statistics, machine learning, or equivalent quantitative field; or Master's degree with 4+ years of data science experience.Preferred Qualifications6+ years of data science experience.4+ years of experience with machine learning, statistical modeling, data mining, and analytics techniques.Experience with data scripting languages (SQL, Python, R) or statistical/mathematical software (R, SAS, Matlab).Experience with clustered data processing (Hadoop, Spark, Map-Reduce, Hive).Previous role as a machine learning or data scientist at a large technology company.Benefits & CultureWork in Amazon's new Northern Virginia headquarters—part of a $2.5 billion investment that will create 25,000+ jobs.The environment emphasizes inclusion, career growth, mentorship, work-life balance, and flexibility.AWS is constantly innovating and welcomes diverse experiences and non-traditional career paths.Amazon pays competitive salaries that vary by location.Additional compensation may include equity, sign-on payments, and a comprehensive benefits package.Equal Employment OpportunityAmazon is an equal opportunity employer and does not discriminate on the basis of protected veteran status, disability, or other legally protected status.If you have a disability and need accommodations during the application process, please visit for more information.ApplicationThis position will remain posted until filled.Please apply via Amazon's internal or external career site.#J-*****-Ljbffr
