strong enthusiasm for contributing to the design and implementation of Multimodal Foundation Models.Additionally, they should be capable of coordinating technical, communication, and team activities.Project: DVPSTranslated has been awarded funding for the DVPS project, a collaborative research initiative worth29million euros over 4 years, which will be led by Translated.DVPS develops the science of multimodal foundation models and applies them to problems in the fields of Earth observation, language, and cardiology.DVPS is an acronym for the project's motto, "Diversibus Viis Plurima Solvo", meaning "Through various paths, I solve many problems."The project has computing resources that match its ambition.It is estimated to use 30million GPU-hours provided by EuroHPC, operating on Europe's major Exascale and Petascale computing infrastructures.To ensure maximum impact, all research outcomes of DVPS—including trained models, datasets, and evaluation benchmarks—will be released as open source on HuggingFace.ResponsibilitiesYou will be part of a team of researchers dedicated to DVPS within Translated's AI Research team, which works on several pieces of technology such as Large Language Models, machine translation, speech foundation models, and privacy-preserving machine learning.The AI Research team collaborates closely with product and engineering teams and develops the technology to power Translated's next generation of products.In This Role, You Willwork with data, compute and algorithmsdesign deep learning multimodal neural architecturesdesign experiments, implement them in code, run them on large (GPU on HPC) compute, run evaluationsmonitor and benchmark the state of the arthave the opportunity to give guidance to more junior team members such as PhD students and internscoordinate with our partners on our research roadmapadapt the project's pace to the rapid scientific development in our fieldorganize publications and open-sourcing effortsRequirementscompleted PhD or 4 years of industry research experience in a relevant field of deep learning, machine learning, either applied (preferably language, clinical medicine, Earth observation, robotics, vision, audio)experience guiding junior researchers, defining a research project and experimentsexcellent programming skills: PyTorchfamiliarity with Docker and Unix OS, including running GPU experimentsinterest in carrying out experimental researchrelevant scientific publications, teaching and research experienceexcellent command of EnglishBonus Pointsstrong in GPU
