Being a part of a group of leading UK technology organisations, we are dedicated to building a more diverse and inclusive workforce.Our VisionOur vision is to become the most trusted technology solutions partner;renowned for being the best and brightest, having lasting impact with our customers and delivering exceptional returns to our stakeholders.TeamThe Data Practice is the team made up of experts dedicated to Data centric offers (Data platform, Data Analytics, IoT, Big Data, Data compliance) who support our customers in their IT and Data transformations.We help customers choose the right tools and services, build highly scalable secure environments, and help them manage the maintenance of those environments.We come up with creative solutions to difficult problems and every engineer gets to have a large direct impact on each of those customers.The team is made up of engineers from all around the country in distributed teams.You can work fully remote or at any Claranet UK office - most people choose a combination of the two.We've worked hard to create a remote-friendly culture and believe you can have a big impact no matter where you live.Working in the Data Practice we can offer an environment where you will be surrounded by like-minded, highly technical people.Due to the nature of our business, interesting projects and the possibility to learn and use new technologies are commonplace.We want you to develop and grow as our organization does.ExpectationsYou will be expected to deliver large-scale data migration and/or modernisation projectsYou'll support and manage the environments of key strategic customersYou'll shadow and mentor other engineers to help them resolve complex support issuesYou'll engage with key customer stakeholders in technical, pre-sales and commercial conversationsYou'll be expected to deliver workshops (either standard or bespoke) to customersYou'll be able to produce new written technical content for external use by our customersYou'll be required to present content to a mixed-skilled audienceWhat You Will AccomplishWithin the Data practice, you will be responsible for:Supporting Informix Database platforms.This will include, Troubleshooting, Monitoring, Optimization/tuning of system performance, Security, ReportingOn-Call rota for 24/7 fourth-line supportAutomation of all support activities including backups, patching, and script deploymentsAccompany customers towards Cloud technologies and other cloud-native Data ServicesEnsure the storage, processing, and quality of customer dataTechnologyYou'll have experience with the following technologies:Informix database ****** and newer)Unix and Linux systems administrationProgramming Languages such as: Python, Perl, C, JavaYou'll ideally also have experience with the following technologies:Exposure to storage area networks, particularly EMC, IBM, Sun and HPPublic Cloud Infrastructure deployments (Azure, AWS)A working knowledge of OpenbetLarge Informix upgrades and migrationsWhat we value:You have a positive mindset: you're excited by unfamiliar challenges and learning new thingsYou're collaborative, supportive, and love to help others learnYou believe in shared accountability, celebrating success, and learning from failuresYou're Enthusiastic and eager to learn a wide variety of technologiesYou keep up to date on new technologies and trends
