Location: Naples Campania ItalyJob ID: R*******Company Name: Hitachi Rail S.p.A.Job Schedule: Full timeRemote: NoAbout UsA career at Hitachi Rail will help create a legacy.With operations in every corner of the world our work goes to the cutting-edge of digital transformation and technology.From the multi-cultural strength of our global organisation to the sustainable and innovative ways we work to bring people together theres something for everyone to get stuck into.And thats where you come in.Job DescriptionHitachi Rail is looking for an enthusiastic self-motivated Traction and auxiliary control Engineer who thrives in a fast-paced environment.The successful candidate is comfortable performing a wide range of tasks from administrative to strategic.The position is based in Napoli Italy.AccountabilitiesRequirements Analysis & System DesignAnalyze input requirements to define control architecture and detailed specifications.Model and simulate propulsion systems and power converters to optimize component sizing and topology selection.Control Algorithms & Software DevelopmentDesign and develop control functions and algorithms to meet technical specifications.Develop and maintain embedded software and firmware libraries.Implement harmonic emission control strategies to ensure EMI compliance.Design diagnostic algorithms for Condition-Based Maintenance (CBM) in propulsion systems.Testing & ValidationDevelop Hardware-in-the-Loop (HIL) and Software-in-the-Loop (SIL) test environments.Conduct control system validation in SIL / HIL and real-world integration testing.Perform system integration tests and on-board validation.Support commissioning field testing and service operations.Compliance & DocumentationEnsure software documentation complies with railway standards (EN ***** EN *****).Participate in Design Reviews (DR) and support routine testing of control electronics and power converters.Required Skills / KnowledgeControl Systems & Signal ProcessingAdvanced knowledge of automation control theory and real-time signal processing.Expertise in vector control theory (FOC DTC) for electric machines.Dynamic system modeling and simulation using Simulink / Simscape.Embedded & Real-Time SystemsProficient in C / C Python and Linux for embedded systems development.Experience with real-time operating systems (RTOS) and Eclipse-based toolchains.Firmware development: microcontroller register programming peripheral drivers and interfaces (UART SPI I2C PWM ADC).FPGA programming using VHDL for high-speed control applications.Power Electronics & Electric PropulsionStrong understanding of power converter topologies (DC / DC AC / DC inverters).Knowledge of electric / hybrid propulsion systems and electric machine control (PMSM induction motors).Experience with Hardware-in-the-Loop (HIL) testing (dSPACE Speedgoat OPAL-RT).Communication Protocols & StandardsHands-on experience with CAN Ethernet MVB buses and protocols (J**** TRDP TCN).Knowledge of functional safety standards (EN***** EN ***** IEEE****).Software & Systems EngineeringModel-Based Design (MBD) for control systems using Simulink / Stateflow.Requirements management with IBM Rational DOORS.Experience with automated code generation for embedded targets.Additional CompetenciesElectric MachinesDeep understanding of PMSM induction motors and BLDC control techniques.Testing & ValidationFamiliarity with HIL / SIL / MIL environments for system verification.Industrial StandardsCompliance with IEC ***** ISO ***** and automotive / railway safety norms.Education & QualificationsDegree in Automation Electrical Electronic or Computer Engineering (Ph.D. preferred in Automation Engineering).LanguagesFluent in English (professional proficiency).We welcome and value differences in background, age, gender, sexuality, family status, disability, race, nationality, ethnicity, religion and world view.It is our commitment to create an inclusive environment – we are proud to be an equal opportunity employer.Employment Type: Full-TimeExperience: yearsVacancy: 1#J-*****-Ljbffr
