RINA is currently recruiting for a Messina Marine Surveyor to join its office in Messina, Italy with in the Mediterranean and Africa Marine Division.MissionA surveyor in a classification society plays a crucial role in ensuring the safety, compliance, and quality of ships and marine assets.The main responsibilities are aimed at verifying that vessels meet international and classification society standards.Key AccountabilitiesRegulatory Compliance: Ensure strict adherence to classification society rules, international regulations, and statutory requirements during surveys and inspections.Apply new regulations as they arise.Technical Expertise: Provide expert technical advice to clients, shipowners, and manufacturers on matters related to classification, design, construction, and maintenance.Stay abreast of the latest industry technologies, innovations, and advancements to ensure the application of cutting-edge knowledge in surveys.Problem-Solving: Act as a troubleshooter, addressing technical issues and challenges that may arise during surveys or client interactions.Quality Assurance: Implement quality assurance measures in survey processes to uphold the highest standards of accuracy and reliability in inspection reports.Client Education: Educate clients on classification society processes, rules, and the importance of compliance for safety and operational efficiency.Documentation and Reporting: Use standardized templates for inspection reports, ensuring consistency, clarity and timeliness in reporting.Integrate digital tools for efficient documentation management and reporting.Collaboration and Teamwork: Collaborate with colleagues, both within the classification society and externally, to share knowledge, experiences, and best practices; actively participate in team meetings and contribute to a collaborative work environment.Continuous Professional Development: Engage in ongoing professional development to stay current with evolving industry standards, technologies, and best practices.Pursue relevant certifications or qualifications to enhance expertise.Ethical Conduct: Uphold the highest ethical standards in all professional interactions, ensuring integrity, transparency, and fairness in survey processes.EducationMaster's Degree in Naval EngineeringQualificationsMinimum 3 years' experience working as a Junior Surveyor or minimum 5 years' experience in the engineering or survey fields within the marine industry or other applicable industry.Proficiency in the English language commensurate with the scope of classification, statutory certification, related services and, before assignment, with future work.Ability to develop a working knowledge of RINA Rules, Guides, statutory regulations, and related instructions, and the RINA Employee Safety Policy.Ability to understand engineering plans and have basic knowledge of shipbuilding practices and ship operations.Ability to perform either: new building surveys assessing suitability of certified materials and products, ensuring compliance of hull, machinery and equipment in construction, issuing certificates, reports, records and status;ship in service surveys assessing maintenance compliance, identifying deficiencies, recommending repairs, ensuring compliance of hull, machinery and equipment, following-up on repairs and endorsing certificates and reports;Marine Management Systems audits;testing activities and service suppliers/manufacturers certification, assessing suitability of certified materials and products, issuing certificates and preparing reports and status.Knowledge of ships' engineering systems and machinery.Knowledge of computer programs or software packages related to job responsibilities.Knowledge of related technical interfaces required for group project work.MAKE EFFECTIVE DECISIONS - Structure activities according to priorities, actions, resources and constraint.ADDRESS THE WAY - Have a big picture of different situations and reinterpret it in a perspective way.MANAGE EMOTIONS - Recognise one's and other's emotions and express and regulate one's reactions.CLIENT INTIMACY - Embrace internal and external client needs, expectations, and requirements to ensure maximum satisfaction.EARN TRUST - Take everyone's opinion into account and remain open to diversity.PROMOTE SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT - Promote commitment by keeping promises as a Role Model.THINK FORWARD - Capitalise on experiences and translate them into action plans for the future.PIONEER CHANGE - Actively embrace change and benefit from the new circumstances.BUILD NETWORK - Forge trust relationships, across departments, and outside the organization.RINA is a multinational company providing a wide range of services in the energy, marine, certification, infrastructure & mobility, industry, research & development sectors.Our business model covers the full process of project development, from concept to completion.At RINA, we endeavor to create a work environment where every single person is valued and encouraged to develop new ideas.We provide equal employment opportunities and are committed to creating a workplace where everyone feels respected and safe from discrimination or harassment of any kind.We are also compliant to the Italian Law n.*****.#J-*****-Ljbffr
