OverviewJoin to apply for theData Engineerrole atbeqom Company Overviewbeqom is a high-growth B2B SaaS company that provides industry-leading tools for pay equity and transparency, compensation, and performance management.Trusted by some of the world's most respected companies, beqom enables HR and business leaders to navigate global compliance and make smarter pay decisions that attract, retain, and motivate top talent.Founded in Switzerland and serving clients worldwide, our powerful, enterprise-ready products are fuelled by beqom pay intelligence.Role ObjectiveThe objective of this role is to serve as the subject matter expert for all aspects of data storage, processing, and retrieval.This role owns the performance, integrity, and reliability of the organization's database systems and data pipelines.The mission is to engineer a data infrastructure that is robust, scalable, and efficient.This involves proactively optimizing database performance, guaranteeing data quality through well-architected ETL processes, and resolving the most complex data-related challenges to ensure application stability and support business intelligence needs.Key ResponsibilitiesDatabase Architecture & Performance Tuning: Analyse and resolve deep architectural database problems.This includes identifying query bottlenecks, implementing optimisations (e.g., adding indexes), and designing schema modifications like correcting data types.Advanced Troubleshooting: Serve as the final escalation point for complex database issues, including the analysis and resolution of deadlocks, locking contention, and replication failures.ETL/Data Pipeline Optimization & Refactoring: Evaluate existing data pipelines for performance, scalability, and data quality.Take ownership of rewriting and re-architecting partial or entire ETL processes to meet current and future demands.Data Integrity & Governance: Establish and enforce best practices for data quality, consistency, and security.Design and manage comprehensive backup, restore, and disaster recovery strategies for all critical databases.Root Cause Analysis (RCA): Conduct definitive root cause analysis for all critical data-related incidents, documenting findings and implementing permanent preventative measures.Technical Guidance & Mentoring: Provide expert advice to L3 and Development teams on efficient data access patterns, query optimisation, and schema design best practices.Key CompetenciesStrong expertise in Azure SQL and proficiency with database management tools such as SQL Server Management Studio (SSMS).Hands-on experience with ETL orchestration tools like Azure Data Factory (ADF) and SSIS for designing, maintaining, and optimizing data pipelines.Proven skills in query performance analysis and optimization, including indexing strategies, execution plan analysis, and query refactoring.Familiarity with database monitoring and observability tools (Datadog preferred) for proactive performance management.Solid understanding of data modeling, relational database design, and best practices in data governance, integrity, and security.Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with experience in troubleshooting complex database performance and reliability issues.Excellent command of English, both written and spoken, to operate in a global environment.Nice to have: knowledge of Azure infrastructure services (e.g., networking, storage, security), serverless tools such as Azure Functions and Azure Logic Apps, exposure to CI/CD practices for data solutions, and familiarity with cloud cost optimization in data workloads.Why Join Us?Your career, your design.Unleash your ambition in our dynamic, autonomous environment.Drive meaningful change.Build a fairer future for every employee by joining a market leader that is improving the world of work.Belong to something bigger.Collaborate with a passionate, diverse and talented team around the globe.Job DetailsSeniority level: Mid-Senior levelEmployment type: Full-timeJob function: Information TechnologyIndustries: Software DevelopmentReferrals increase your chances of interviewing at beqom by 2x#J-*****-Ljbffr
