Automation Specialist – CelaneseThe Automation Specialist reports directly to the Maintenance & Reliability Leader and develops strategies for industrial automation operating systems to optimize resources and improve productivity & reliability across Celanese production lines.The role also involves performing corrective, preventive, and predictive maintenance activities on automation and instrumentation to guarantee high performance, eliminate unplanned downtime, and ensure compliance with company safety procedures.ResponsibilitiesDesign, develop, and improve strategy for automated industrial processes, systems, and components.Ensure high reliability in all automation systems of the industrial site.Troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair industrial automation systems to reduce unscheduled downtimes.Perform preventive and predictive maintenance on industrial automation systems.Collaborate with other departments to ensure automation system reliability, standardization, and safety.Support suppliers during field visits and scope definition.Manage automation maintenance plans closely with the Electrical Reliability SME and the Reliability Program Owner.Plan automation works of maintenance, operation, and safety—including evaluation of technician availability, spare parts, and technical specifications—to request quotes and offers from multiple suppliers.Analyze system performance and suggest modifications or upgrades.Develop and maintain technical documentation for industrial automation systems.Collaborate with Electrical Specialist and Electrical Coordinator to monitor obsolescence of components and software; set spare parts strategy.Participate actively in continuous improvement initiatives (RCA, Kaizen, etc.).QualificationsHigh technical education in automation of production processes.Background in Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Automation, Computer Science, or a related field.3–5 years of experience as Automation Specialist/Engineer.Knowledge of PLC (Siemens-ABB), SCADA, HMI, frequency drives, PI Vision, and related automation and programming.Solid understanding of computer programming and software development.Solid understanding of electrical schematics.Strong orientation to problem-solving.English language proficiency; German is a plus.Seniority LevelMid–Senior levelEmployment TypeFull-timeJob FunctionEngineering and Information TechnologyIndustriesChemical Manufacturing#J-*****-Ljbffr
