We are currently seeking a Sr. Instrument Engineer, reporting directly to the Section Head, to join our Instrumentation and Control System team based in Rome, Italy. The role and your responsibilities will include: Review client's technical documentation and requirements. Control of subcontracted discipline engineering documents. Define engineering requirements. Support detailed engineering activities (layouts, routings, supports, sizing of CVs). Prepare specifications/datasheets, especially for field instruments, and conduct related technical bid evaluations. Prepare general job and supply specifications for field instruments. Review supplier drawings and vendor project documentation. Provide technical support to the project group. Optimize field instrument selection ensuring minimal cost and simplification, in compliance with performance requirements. Implement instrument detailed design on P&ID's. Manage changes effectively. Communicate and interface with other engineering disciplines. Participate in technical negotiations for instrumentation selection. Perform Factory Acceptance Tests. Work according to company/project standards, procedures, and specifications. Key interactions for the Instrument Engineer include internal collaboration with civil works, other discipline specialists and engineers, project groups; externally with suppliers and clients. To succeed, you should meet the following requirements: Qualification: Automation and/or Mechanical Engineering Languages: Fluent in Italian and English Knowledge and experience in the oil and gas industry is a plus Knowledge and experience with automatic valves for industrial applications (control and on-off valves) is a plus Knowledge of European regulations regarding ATEX/SIL guidelines is a plus Growth mindset and continuous improvement approach Problem-solving attitude Good presentation and communication skills at all organizational levels Attention to detail and ability to complete tasks on time with high quality standards Ability to work in an international context and willingness for short and long-term abroad missions Effective teamwork skills within a multicultural environment IT Skills: Strong MS Office skills (especially Excel) Knowledge of SPI (Smart Plant Instrumentation) Inclusion Standards We are committed to fostering an inclusive culture by challenging biases, embracing diversity, and promoting respect, active listening, and collective solutions.
