Backend Software Engineer – Fully RemoteWho We AreDeel is the all-in-one payroll and HR platform for global teams.Our vision is to unlock global opportunity for every person, team, and business.Built for the way the world works today, Deel combines HRIS, payroll, compliance, benefits, performance, and equipment management into one seamless platform.With AI-powered tools and a fully owned payroll infrastructure, we support every worker type in 150+ countries, helping businesses scale smarter, faster, and more compliantly.Job SummaryAs a Backend Software Engineer at Deel, you will collaborate with cross-functional teams to design, develop, and maintain high-performance and highly scalable server-side components.You will play a key role in building the next generation of Deel's product suite that powers global payroll, benefits, and compliance for millions of users worldwide.ResponsibilitiesCollaborate with Frontend Engineers, Product Designers, and QA to deliver seamless user experiences.Participate in end-to-end product planning, from discovery to deployment, ensuring technical feasibility and high quality.Develop and continually enhance robust features, APIs, and services, focusing on performance, scalability, and security.Write clean, maintainable, and well-tested code and track bugs using DevOps best practices.Mentor junior engineers and contribute to shared technical knowledge across the engineering organization.QualificationsStrong proficiency in Node.js and TypeScript with deep understanding of best practices.Expertise in PostgreSQL: query optimization, migrations, and data modeling.Solid grasp of object-oriented programming principles, design patterns, and scalable system architecture.Experience designing systems that handle high-volume concurrency and large transaction volumes.Hands-on experience building secure RESTful APIs, JWT authentication, and queue-based background services.4+ years of experience as a full-stack or backend software engineer in a SaaS environment.Strong communication skills and the ability to explain technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.Preferred ExperienceExperience with Serverless Architecture on AWS.Knowledge of the FinTech industry and its unique challenges.Background in building highly available, fault-tolerant, and globally distributed systems.Benefits & PerksCompetitive salary with equity that aligns with the company's success.Remote-first work culture with flexible working hours and optional WeWork access.Comprehensive health benefits, paid time off, and a focus on work-life balance.Continuous learning opportunities, career-growth tracks, and a diverse, inclusive environment.Deel is an equal-opportunity employer.We celebrate diversity and are committed to building an inclusive workplace that reflects different abilities, backgrounds, and perspectives.If you need accommodations, please let us know and we will work with you to provide a suitable experience.#J-*****-Ljbffr
