At American Express, our culture is built on a 175-year history of innovation, shared and Leadership Behaviors, and an unwavering commitment to back our customers, communities, and colleagues.As part of Team Amex, you'll experience this powerful backing with comprehensive support for your holistic well-being and many opportunities to learn new skills, develop as a leader, and grow your career.Here, your voice and ideas matter, your work makes an impact, and together, you will help us define the future of American Express.We are looking for a highly experienced Director – Head of Regulatory Advisory to provide expert guidance across the full spectrum of compliance and regulatory matters.The role reports directly to the Head of Compliance for the Italian market, with a strategic impact across the organization.Given the strong international footprint of American Express, the role requires a global mindset and the ability to collaborate with international teams.How will you make an impact in this role?Lead the Regulatory Advisory Team as Director, acting as the primary senior point of reference for all regulatory matters Provide authoritative interpretation and guidance on all applicable regulations Support strategic initiatives and business decisions by assessing regulatory impacts and advising senior stakeholders and committees Monitor regulatory developments at national, EU, and international level, translating them into actionable guidance for the business Strengthen internal governance through policies, frameworks, and risk assessments Handle supervisory interactions and request for information Oversee regulatory aspects of product development and lifecycle management on issuing and acquiring services Collaborate with other Compliance teams, also at international level, to ensure a coordinated approach Lead, coach, and develop a team of regulatory specialists, fostering a risk culture of excellence Minimum Qualifications: Degree in Law +10 years of experience in Compliance or Legal roles, preferably within banking, financial services, or regulated fintech Extensive expertise in the regulatory framework governing payment services, including issuing and acquiring Proven experience managing interactions with supervisory authorities Strong strategic thinking and the ability to provide pragmatic guidance to executive and business stakeholders Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, capable of clearly articulating complex regulatory topics Solid leadership capabilities with experience managing teams in dynamic and evolving environments Ability to handle multiple tasks and prioritize work in a deadline-intensive environment Fluency in Italian and English (both written and verbal), additional languages are an advantage Non-considerations for sponsorship: Employment eligibility to work with American Express in Italy is required as the company will not pursue visa sponsorship for these positions.We back you with benefits that support your holistic well-being so you can be and deliver your best.This means caring for you and your loved ones' physical, financial, and mental health, as well as providing the flexibility you need to thrive personally and professionally: Competitive base salaries Bonus incentives Support for financial-well-being and retirement Comprehensive medical, dental, vision, life insurance, and disability benefits (depending on location) Flexible working model with hybrid, onsite or virtual arrangements depending on role and business need Generous paid parental leave policies (depending on your location) Free access to global on-site wellness centers staffed with nurses and doctors (depending on location) Free and confidential counseling support through our Healthy Minds program Career development and training opportunities Offer of employment with American Express is conditioned upon the successful completion of a background verification check, subject to applicable laws and regulations.
