Join to apply for the Senior Geotechnical/Tunnel Engineer role at SYSTRASYSTRA is one of the world's leading engineering and consultancy groups specialising in public transport and sustainable mobility.With over 10,300 employees, SYSTRA's mission is to design safe and sustainable transport solutions to bring people together, develop social inclusion and facilitate access to employment, education and leisure throughout the world.For 65 years, the Group has been working alongside cities and regions to contribute to their development by creating, improving and modernising their infrastructure and transport systems, throughout the life cycle of their projects.SYSTRA is involved from the earliest stages of design through to the testing, deployment and maintenance phases.The company provides all its services in over 80 countries worldwide and generates 74% of its turnover internationally.With its new services, SYSTRA supports its clients and partners in their digital, ecological and energy transition, in order to invent the mobility of tomorrow.ContextWe are looking for a Senior Geotechnical/Tunnel Engineer specialized in the design of Tunnels with Conventional Method.Missions / Main DutiesThis selected candidate will be involved on various transport infrastructure's projects (local and international) and will be the Discipline Leader, being responsible for the Conventional Tunnel Design within the Geotechnical and Tunnelling Department Organisation.He/She will coordinate the technical aspects, along with the Head of the Geotechnical and Tunnelling Department and will contribute to the definition of the best technical solution, according with Project requirements, ensuring quality check of the delivered technical documentation.He/She will provide technical support to the design team.Profile / SkillsQualifications & Experience RequiredMaster's Degree in Civil Engineering (Geotechnics and/or Tunnelling)At least 5 years of experience in tunnelling projectsProven experience in design and analysis of underground structures, including but not limited to:Geotechnical and geomechanical characterizationDefinition of excavation behaviour categories based on different approaches (ADECO-RS Method, probabilistic approach based on GSI/Q-index, NATM)Design of temporary support system (shotcrete, steel ribs, rock bolts, pipe roof, forepoling)Design of permanent liningRecommendation on different method of conventional excavation (Drill & Blast, Hydraulic Hammer, Rodheader)Knowledge/experience with application of design codes and standards for geotechnical and structural designFamiliarity with geotechnical design software (PLAXIS, ROCSCIENCE RS2-RS3, PARATIE, MIDAS, FLAC 2 D and 3 D)Strong proficiency in written and spoken EnglishAvailability to go on business trips in Italy and/or abroadCapability in communication with Clients and stakeholders.Experience in planning of design activities and on the identification of priorities.
